more gibb-erish on swine
Robert Gibbs would be better off ‘oinking’ when he opens his mouth rather than utter the useless statements he and his communications team are crafting at the White House.![]()
As stories spread globally – nearly as fast as the “eeuhh-flu” itself, the “glandularly-challenged” press sec. weighs in by saying it was “far too early to determine” whether there will be an economic impact from the outbreak.
Who gives a pig’s tail about economic impact?
The spread of Swine Flu is clearly urgent and reaching pandemic proportions. Maybe our government officials need to cause a little panic to underscore its seriousness so Pigs Don’t Fly! You cannot cover-up what is already airborne.
Mr. Gibbs, unless those students from a New York Catholic school visited the local pig petting zoo while in Mexico, I’d say you’d best go back to the "PEN!"

on April 26th, 2009 at 5:40 pm
indeed princess… gibbs– this ain’t the time to be glib!
on April 26th, 2009 at 5:42 pm
I’d just like to say to monsieur gibblet (in his mother tongue—pig latin) “ut-shay the uck-fay up-ay!”
on April 26th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
Hi Princess, glad I’m not the only one who noticed this. The info on the CNN website this AM (from the CDC, supposedly) was totally incorrect. In fact, it was unintelligible. But then, this is the same agency which expected us to believe that the daughter of a TB researcher just “happened” to be engaged to a young man who carried a serious strain of TB, then “fudged” the restrictions on his travel plans, then scared him into fleeing, and finally, never publicly acknowledged its mistakes when the experts in Colorado determined the patient did not have the extreme strain the CDC had panicked the country about. Oh this is also the same CDC that caved to pressure from the blood banks and surgeons and insisted there was no real risk of getting HIV from a blood transfusion. Anyone here old enough to remember that?
I suggest everyone take a look at “The Great Influenza”, by John M. Barry. It is meticulously researched and the most scathing indictment of the deterioration of our modern public health system since Randy Shilts’ great, “And the Band Played On”. Well, the band is still playing and it’s the wrong tune. Barry explains the structure of the virus, how it mutates, why it is so dangerous, particularly to young adults, and clarifies that there is no such entity as “swine flu”. All influenza begins in birds (avian) influenza, is transmitted to other animals, and then may make the leap to man.
I am not surprised that this is happening, only that it did not happen sooner. Anyone who has an interest in their own and their loved ones’ survival should read this book. And for those who think this inept CDC and the federal government will save us, I say, remember Katrina.

there is no shortages of pig references, eh?? too easy…
let’s just hope they get to the bottom of this mess quickly…
on April 26th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Excellent advice back bay style… as always.
Sounds like an excellent and ‘must’ read! thanks again
on April 26th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
my surprise: that gibbs is even still the whitehouse press secretary. i can find a better replacement on youtube!
on April 26th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
Thanks Princess and Sista. BTW. RD has a front page post from a scientist who explains this in much better detail than I ever could, and also suggests that tamiflu and its related antivirals may be useless against this…yet our ‘denial is a river in Egypt’ CDC marches on….
on April 26th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
Thanks for the reference Bbs, this is frightening if true
on April 26th, 2009 at 8:44 pm
yes I did read earlier bbs that the “stockpiles” of tamiflu might well be useless against the strains of swine…
on April 26th, 2009 at 10:45 pm
boogie—your assessment of washington is on target. i lived there many years ago.
btw, i was very sorry to read about your brother’s dog. we’ve been there, too. very sad. a lttle piece of your heart dies when you lose a pet.

Economic Impact? WTF? What is the economic impact of Gibb losing all his family members to this flu? Lets see: one son, with the ability to earn 56,000 a year for lets say 40 years, WHAT AN ASS!!!
How about thinking in terms of the impact it will have on human beings? How about thinking about the losses these families have suffered? How about a little human kindness you pompous ass!
on April 27th, 2009 at 1:26 am
asia nice link – somehow O playing golf at a time like this doesn’t suprise me
on April 27th, 2009 at 7:52 am
Question: media are telling everyone that O’s 100 day make him one the best prezz ever ..with everyone affected by layoffs, losing homes and 401K’s taking hits.. do you think the American people will buy it?
Many have – acccording to latest polls — but you all are keeping ‘em in check.
on April 27th, 2009 at 8:04 am
boogie——the media has not finished hyping him up. just like the swine flu. and don’t forget how the obama white house is becoming masterful at diverting attention from what they’re really doing, just like the bush white house! so, this is another diversion.
on April 27th, 2009 at 8:15 am
i agree, but on the flip side, if you’re a person seeing all this unfold . & seeing how bad it is for everone (it seems everyday you hear of more layoffs) ..this media lovesfest with O-pig might backfire
on April 27th, 2009 at 9:13 am
yes you’re right….but it’s sad that so much misery must occur before the media stops pushing their agenda.
indeed, that’s why we need to stay on our toes cindy…no matter the pain
on April 27th, 2009 at 10:28 am
thought the market was going south before it opened on swine flu fears. thankfully it rebounded very quickly….whew! I don’t think it (or I) could survive another plummet.
(great shoes – are they originals)
the illustriously talented Sista Christian Louboutin has drawn all the shoes from the actual designer shoes!
on April 27th, 2009 at 11:21 am
& an those polls that favor him … i don’t buy ‘em …. there is something wrong when its clear that the country is hurting in so many ways …
on April 27th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I hear ya lls. I don’t think I could handle another down day either.

boogie—-here is” totus”, obama’s teleprompter’s blog….i thought you’d find it hilarious, and painfully on target!
http://baracksteleprompter.blogspot.com/
on April 27th, 2009 at 2:56 pm
cindy, apparently POTUS had a problem with TOTUS today
And Boogie, according to polls at Real Clear Politics, most think that the country is on the wrong track and that congress sucks, yet O’s approval rating is in the 60s. What goes up….
on April 27th, 2009 at 3:12 pm
Piper thats what i mean O approval rating should not be going up that doesn’t not make any scents if people think like that the country is on the wrong track
on April 27th, 2009 at 3:14 pm
cindy yea i saw that berrys teleprompter’ is following me on twitter ….
on April 27th, 2009 at 3:17 pm
piper— if you read totus’ recent blog, he explains about potus’ problem today!!! too funny!
it’s wonderful how creative people can always make us laugh in the face of adversity. I think it’s what keeps us alive!
on April 27th, 2009 at 5:59 pm
laughter is the best medicine.
like the silver lining, it’s there.
we just have to find it.
on April 27th, 2009 at 6:31 pm
Hi Cindy, boogie,Piper, and all! Well, these posts this afternoon are certainly making me laugh. Hey, we are actually having a gorgeous week up here….finally!.
on April 27th, 2009 at 7:09 pm
its official Gm has stopped making Pontiac forever hmmm i wonder if that will means my firebird is soon to be a classic
on April 27th, 2009 at 7:20 pm
probably, boogie…i have a friend, also lives in s.a., who still has his trans am from the early ’80′s! i think they’ll all be classics, so hang on to yours.
back bay—-glad you’re having gorgeous weather. our storms just ended, and what’s left of the sun is peeking through.
on April 27th, 2009 at 7:26 pm
i going to… but mine is a 2001 Pontiac firebird T-top formula
so im sure your friend, will be classic long before mine is .

on April 27th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
great. another reason for my mother to keep her ’90s t-top Firebird. sigh. She could have bought a Lexus for the cost of all of the repairs she’s had to make to that albatross.
on April 27th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
boog—you’re right about oinkbama…….. but i wonder if the story about the unfortunate swine flu victim is true? sometimes it’s hard to glean truth from all the hype.
on April 27th, 2009 at 9:49 pm
Cindy, oinkbama thats a good one. im going 2 have to remember that one.
We all know how O is all on photo opps — did you hear 2day he sent airforce one in for a big photo opp over NYC?? it flew so low that some thought that it was a repeat of 911 …
on April 27th, 2009 at 10:43 pm
boogie— i just found out about the air force one flying over manhattan story . when it was first reported this morning, they said that some company was filming a commercial….and now i hear it was the damn president’s white house doing a photo op!
where are the adults in that administration?! jeeze!!
on April 27th, 2009 at 10:54 pm
Cindy i don’t think there are any in Washington … Hillary’s the only one that acts like an adult & she’s out of the country most of the time looking presidential
on April 27th, 2009 at 11:20 pm
you’re right about hillary. I keep forgetting she’s actually part of that administration because she’s head and shoulders above all of them in intelligence, maturity, and impeccable judgement. and she works 24/7 !!!!!!
on April 28th, 2009 at 12:46 am
hey princess love benny & the jets …is one of my fav songs
love that new splash
well, thank you for bringing the story to the heels’ attention!
on April 28th, 2009 at 1:11 am
thanks princess sure if i can help you girls out in anyway just let me know…
once again O puts himself & his own self image above the people of NYC & the rest of us a well … i mean what kind of a nut does something like that…he didn’t think that the sight of a plane & a fighter could cause a mass panic??
on April 28th, 2009 at 11:15 am
interesting payback for the Financial community (i know that sounds awful)…
“A woman employee at the accounting firm of Ernst & Young in New York has been diagnosed with swine flu, a company spokesman said on Tuesday, the first case reported in the city’s financial community.”
but, maybe now they’ll get serious on an action plan
on April 28th, 2009 at 11:32 am
ladies,
love the splash and video of greta — that woman does not mince words…when she’s fuming about something, she doesn’t holds back. Bravo Greta!!
on April 28th, 2009 at 11:44 am
Thanks Alicia — we all need a little levity to get through our day — nothing wrong with having a bit of fun at the Prez’s expense.
We also happen to be a huge fan of greta … (yet another thing that arose out of the hillary-bashing last year)
on April 28th, 2009 at 12:14 pm
yea i have also always like greta ..

on April 29th, 2009 at 3:15 pm
Thanks for the articles about Obama’s jet scaring new yorkers to death. as far as i’m concerned, this is the most heinous thing his admin. has done thus far. jeeze!!
our daughter lived in Tribeca until about 6 months before sep. 11, 2001, when she moved back to n’orleans. but every year the nyc health dept. calls me to make sure that she has no health problems from 9/11 even though i try to convince them she was no longer living there at the time! their calls to me each year are a sober and somber reminder of what happened. and it makes me very upset to think of “what might have been” had she still been living there on sep.11. . So, if that’s my experience, what were those poor people in manhattan and jersey going through the other morning? pure hell, i can tell you! it’s just the worst thing the white house could have done, and we shouldn’t let them forget it!
on April 29th, 2009 at 6:18 pm
Cindy your right we should not . but i think the media will do its best to forget it or even not report it
on April 29th, 2009 at 11:51 pm
(During these first 100 days, what has surprised you the most about this office? quote you the most from serving in this office? Humbled you the most?) And troubled you the most? -quote times repoter to prezz -0 now if thats not a staged question nothing is
on April 30th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
boogie—it’s the same, if not worse, than the bush “press conferences”….Obama is given the press corps names and who to call on and he knows what questions they’re going to ask.
what happened to the idea of a “democracy”? that word is even in their party’s name : “democrat”!!! what a bunch of phonies!!!!
on April 30th, 2009 at 9:32 pm

Good morning folks, forget the pigs and the totus. Justice Souter is retiring We need Hillary on the Supreme Court. Now.
Torture, bankruptcy protection for the real people gone while mega corporations rush into court every day, and a swing vote on reproductive rights. She’s made the world tour, now it’s time to give her what she has really earned….she will “preserve, protect, and defend the constitution of the United States of America.”…where it counts.
on May 1st, 2009 at 10:31 am
back bay— i totally agree.
being married to an attorney and constitutional law expert for 40 years, i know that an appt. to the supremes is what they all dream of……she’d be excellent and the most deserved!

on May 2nd, 2009 at 10:53 pm
boogie—just got back from pecan street fest in austin—-the crowd was the smallest i’ve ever seen in 30 years.
seems like the media is already backtracking on the statistics and projections. (go to drudgereport.com).
i feel so sorry for those children who were supposed to participate in the special olympics, since it was cancelled. and now if the flu scare it turns out to be over-hyped, that’ll be very sad for them.
those special children can’t take alot of dissappointment.
on May 2nd, 2009 at 11:05 pm
