the longest pedicure in history
Funny thing about those smarty pants women…. it’s really hard to shut ‘em up. Just ask Joe.
Who can blame Dr. Biden for wanting to elevate her husband’s profile? But we hireheels gals know it’s really Joe’s ego (suffering since all the pre and post hoopla surrounding Hillary Clinton’s recent appointment) that needed the boost.

But women should be using the national platform to support other women, not as an opportunity to slam another. That’s why we started hireheels.
The Madame Secretary in waiting continues to blaze the trail for women, not just here in the United States but around the globe, and to us, she is still the smartest ‘guy’ in any room.
Do we think Hillary would have received one quarter of the ‘historic’ media coverage?
No, we do not.
We agree that the country should bask in this historic moment, regardless of the path that brought us here. But what will it do when another qualified woman throws her stiletto in the ring? Will it sit back and allow the same weapons of ass-destruction that were launched at HRC or be teased by an encore performance of Palin-Porn?
Sadly, we think the answer is probably yes.
We learned a lot last year, like, celebrity trumps experience and voters don’t really have as much power as the party leadership would have them believe.Last week, U.S. Air Pilot Chesley B. "Sully" Sullenberger III reminded us that experience DOES matter, and frankly being safe IS sexy. Can we be so certain that a pilot half his age would have performed so well?
President Obama and his team knew how to win. If they apply that same methodology to thwart what seems like an impending economic Armageddon – they may manage to salve the wounds of the primaries. The 44th President must enable strong, smart entrepreneurial women to not just blindly follow him, (like Maryland State Senator Lisa Gladden, "It doesn’t matter if Maryland’s broke as long as Obama’s president"), but inspire him. He can achieve this by acknowledging that women are the engine of the American economy – but will only have the ability to jumpstart it with access to the types of capital (and support) that historically only reaches the good ole boys.
Let’s see whatcha got.

Hi Sista and Princess, Have I ever missed this site! You have, as always, put into words the very thought which came to me last night while I was feeling sad. It was a marketing campaign. Axelrod knew how to win, He analyzed the demographics correctly, applied well-honed marketing techniques, and he won. So we need to get real. The country has shown a predilection for two term presidents. Obama will probably be president for eight years. The voters, or the powers that be, have also shown a predilection for switching parties every four years just for the sake of switching parties. That bodes ill for those of us who have until now defined ourselves as democrats. We need to think long term. We want a woman in the White House. It can be done. We need to locate sufficiently young potential candidates from both parties, support, strategize, and groom them for an eventual presidency. We need to never again be blindsided by an Axelrod. We need to have an candidate ready when the timing is right. And we must never, ever, allow old time political pros like McAuliffe and Penn to throw away our dreams by refusing to really believe that a woman can be elected, and stifling her humanity and her womanliness under an ersatz macho campaign strategy. We need to believe. And we need to do it ourselves. After all, are we dumber than Axelrod? Welcome back!!!
Touched by your kind words BackBayStyle — one day when we are all in beantown, we must have coffee!!

My heart is open, I welcome change…But I do not welcome the way this change happened. Personal integrity is important..and integrity in the democratic process is even more important.. Women were SCREWED in this election…to elect an inexperienced man because of his color and the fact that he gives a good speech…and not because of the experience he brings… He trashed Hillary for her stands on Iraq, and then appointed her to manage international affairs. The way this went down, I will never forget… Furthermore, I cannot watch it….and other women cannot either. I have mama mia plugged into my DVD player for the week.
Today, I had lunch with some of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants Suits.. and many women and men, across this country are not amused, and are not in the mood to celebrate this one. Have fun — A woman’s work is never done…so in the spirit of your mom, I continue to work for full equality. King would have wanted personal integrity in the democratic process– and I’m not so sure, he would have supported how this happened.
DiscoPuma, MAMA Mia? Love it!! Sista & I overdosed on TCM for a much needed Hepburn hiattus – a potent reminder of how much women do rule!!!

I truly hope you come on back and keep the conversation going. You gave some insight that is sorely needed. Don’t get me wrong… Riverdaughter and Murphy are amazing examples of female excellence, but you had a slightly different track on things, and I believe the real challenge from here on will be for women to learn how to support each other, even if we don’t agree on absolutely everything. That is how men have held power for all this time, and if women can’t learn it, then we are doomed to lie here under the bus for eternity.
to the ‘other’ princess – we agree and are hopeful – esp. now with Hillary globetrottin’ …let’s stick together for hireheelers everywhere!

I don’t think I’ll put money on Obama advancing women as part of his agenda. Only particular ones–those who tow the line for him. This may be unachievable but I think there’s a lot of opportunity to work with women as a whole, not just Democrats. If we take the politics out of it and just focus our goal on ending sexism I do think that’s possible. Conservative Republicans are very fired up after the way Sarah Palin was treated (and continues to be treated) and they might meet us halfway if we offer that to them. In a sort of pell mell spur of the moment thing during the general election I joined Team Sarah. Then forgot it. Around Christmas I went back to it and began noodling with my page, adding photos for members thinking they’d probably like seeing them. Then I got curious about designing a better looking page, adding music and well, I’m all in now! Fancy that. The good thing of it is that I have an opportunity to peek over the wall and try to understand Conservative’s minds and things they are passionate about. I don’t agree with everything–just try to respect that this is really their forum to vent and communicate with others who share their sentiments. I feel like an invited guest and really am not there to dispute their beliefs. One thing DOES stick in my craw. The way they use the word “liberal.” It’s irksome–but it does tell me how far apart we are and the hard work it will be to even soften that tension. They do like PUMAs but are slightly mistrustful. I’ve invited some who I think are really sharp-minded to have a look at your website. They do so but with a certain indifference. You know, our minds are just wired differently! Still, I keep offering olive branches because I think in it all, understanding and respecting each other is the better way to go. This is cheap but if I had my wish I’d have you re-design their website! God awful. Well, those are my thoughts. Welcome back, girls. We’ve missed you!
Party-schmarty….we’ve got our own party here at hireheels…let’s keep them guessing! thanks julia, for your compelling insight

Dear Girls of the ‘Hire Heel’….
‘m 62 yrs. old, and appreciate y’all so much! Young women are the future, because my generation, except for Hillary, me and a few thousand, has really betrayed the women’s movement. I’m ashamed and depressed that so many of the women my age, who are supposed-feminists, have taken us backwards!Thank y’all for your vigilance and smarts! Keep it up, girls! We need you!And please don’t forget that March is “Women’s History Month”, and March 8 is International Women’s Day. Not many celebrate it, but a few of us in little bitty Bastrop, Texas will be whoopin’ it up in March.God bless you all. And I don’t say that lightly.-Cindy Bragg The world has never yet seen a truly great and virtuous nation because in the degradation of woman, the very fountains of life are poisoned at their source.
YOU GO GIRL — GR8 TIP ON MARCH 8th Int’l Women’s Day!!!

thanks to the ladies of hireheels for reconvening the virtual sisterhood of the traveling pantsuits! the much anticipated, long awaited return of your phenomenal fem forum is a welcomed relief from the obambi slobberfest we’ve endured the past few months from the MSM. I celebrate each of you for the courage and clarity expressed in your blogs and your comments. Because of the brilliant minds and tireless efforts of sites like this, I firmly believe that one day (soon), a woman WILL be President of the United States. Welcome back to the fight, sisters.
AMEN Ms. Miss!! (and thank you)

I love this site, started reading during the election cycle and kept checking until you came back. I love Hillary too!! I have been reading a site called ‘Madam Secretary’. It keeps you up to date on all things Hillary. She IS the smartest guy in the room. I believe she is happy and well-respected where she is and I have enjoyed watching the ‘Hillary Haters’ fall; Richardson, Daschle, Ms. Schlossberg, etc. Keep up the good work. One day we women will ‘get it’ and possibly even overcome.
Thanks Joyce! Glad to have you on board. Keep checking in!
