that 70’s freak-show, except it’s 2008
Do I agree with Governor Palin on most of her Conservative policy views? No.
Am I an evangelical Christian? No.
Do I own a gun or even know how to shoot one? No.
Am I outraged at the double standard that I have witnessed being delivered by the media, the liberal blogosphere and even my own women friends in regards to Governor Palin’s impending nomination as the Republican Vice President? YES!
![]()
Did we not just endure a lengthy primary that exposed all of those dirty little sexist behavior norms that we thought we had overcome decades ago? Were we not hit with misogyny and sexism right between the eyes and legs? Did we not observe with shock and awe as revered political pundits, that we heretofore tuned in to watch every night, threw Hillary Clinton’s senate credentials under the bus because of her husband’s philandering, accused her of “pimping out” her daughter to further her presidential aspirations and one national commentator even set a rape scene in motion, when he had the audacity to suggest that Senator Clinton should be dragged behind a barn?
Well, our response was deafening. We women, some of whom had never been active in the political
process before, got up off of our benches, stood up and shouted, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, HEAR US
ROAR!”
Sadly, it appears that some of us are offended by such horrors ONLY if those who are attacked agree with our viewpoints as Dems or left-leaning Independents. Seems pretty narrow doesn’t it ladies? Supporting Governor Palin’s right to be on the podium doesn’t mean that we can’t fervently debate her stances on the issues. I would also expect that a strong woman like Governor Palin would welcome such a debate. No doubt she’s going to get one. If she isn’t up to the task, she won’t glean the votes— so why all the fuss?
It’s not about the politics, it’s about the principle that all persons who hold proper credentials should be encouraged to apply for any job, be granted a formal interview and should be placed on a level playing field with all other candidates regardless of race, religion, gender, age or orientation — period!
We must stand tall together in support of Governor Palin despite the differences in our backgrounds and political views. We must collectively insist that major news outlets, the blogs and even our own friends show proper respect towards Governor Palin and all other women, who are stepping up to fight for what they believe in. If we do, maybe we’ll get one step closer towards shattering that highest glass ceiling once and for all.

on September 3rd, 2008 at 5:05 pm
absolutely….
and we need to make a fuss over this exact point - no sexism, no way, no where …. why is it that no one can talk about race but they can blow gender and all the stereotypes all over the news…
i want to use it to get the repubs to rethink their sex education platform…in other words, as you say, a meaningful debate with qualified women having it!
on September 3rd, 2008 at 5:10 pm
The sexism has got to stop, Democrat, Republican, Independent, Third Party, don’t care. STOP THE SEXISM. I’ve been on email and phone today calling media outlets and telling them “we’re mad as hell and we’re not going to take it anymore.” I even called the McCain campaign and told them how horrible I thought the media had been to Hillary and Palin and that I applaud McCain’s campaign for standing up to it.
on September 3rd, 2008 at 6:21 pm
thank you, sista.
i drifted away from now (natl. org. for women) a long time ago. it’s only becoming clearer that the so-called feminist organizations are hollow shells and democratic party servants. naral threw its support to obama during a critical time in the primaries (when hillary was embarrassing him by winning.)
i disagree with sarah palin on issues, but my first reaction to her was admiration of a strong woman. i foolishly expected the obama campaign and the media to acknowledge the historic nature of the first female republican vice presidential nominee and show some respect for what this woman has achieved before they went after her on the issues.
but no, they went straight to vicious, vile sexist attacks.
on September 3rd, 2008 at 6:26 pm
I think Hillary Clinton should speak out about the sexism that is going on in the media against Sarah Palin. If she doesn’t then she is like other politicians, looking out for herself. I actually admire Joe Liebermann for standing up for what he believes, risking his political career by endorsing John McCain.
on September 3rd, 2008 at 6:27 pm
yesterday i wrote a letter to the Salt Lake Tribune after two consecutive days of editorial cartoons showing Palin as first, a bubble headed “Gidget” to McCain’s “Geezer”, and then a particularly misogynist cartoon portraying her as a heavily made up floozy in a flowered house dress kissing Rush Limbaugh, as he smirks as says, ” she gives me a rush!” Thinly disguised in the cartoon was the sexual nature of the stereotyping: Limbaugh had a big stogie (get it?) and Palin looked very much like a prostitute in her hair, makeup and dress (very un-Palin like). As the SLT depicted Clinton as a griping, grasping, waspish harridan for months, it didn’t surprise me that they were no on to bashing Palin.
on September 3rd, 2008 at 7:17 pm
I love visiting this site because I otherwise feel like I’m out here all alone. You are all so right, it is outrageous, even my 12 year old was talking to the TV saying “no,no -that’s nobody’s business & I don’t want to know about that” !
hahaha…I can’t even watch MSNBC anymore (except for morning joe)
on September 3rd, 2008 at 7:27 pm
you guys are still spiteful, because your girl lost. still can’t get over it.
btw, clinton was not chosen vp because she didn’t want to be vp. she’s going to come out on top in 2012. there’s no way she would even want to be bothered being vp. also, she lost her campaign because somebody in her team gave her bad advice. that’s it. she’ll learn from it this time, and will win in 2012.
first, mcfossil was pimping his POW card, and now he’s pimping his palin card.
those are acts of a desparate man who doesn’t give a rat’s ass about you guys. he just wants to be president.
and it was soooo easy…..all he had to do was dangle the palin carrot in front of you. he’s probably sitting there laughing at how easy it was.
you think his side respects women more? he was so desparate to win, he picked a woman he’s met only once before and had to ask what a vp does. and of course he picked a good looking woman because he is a cheater and womanizer and it’s so much easier to look at a good looking woman for the next 4 years than an ugly one. so basically, he’s using you.
I loved how fast you FORMER clinton fanatics turned.
former clinton fanatics- ‘I support hillary! I support her because she fights for what I believe in! oh no! hillary lost (pout pout). ……oh look…..another woman on the scene. hmmm…..she’s with the enemy. opposite from what I believe in. but she looks like a sassy little thing from what I’ve seen so far ( a whole day). hmmmm……I won’t admit in public I really like the fact that she’s a woman, so I’m going to find a bunch of reasons to like her and go against everything I was saying these past few months.’
you guys voted for, first hillary and now palin because they are women! I feel bad for clinton, seeing that you guys dropped her like a hot potato.
admit it. you didn’t vote dem or reb. you voted women. all your comments here prove it. you’re also voting for palin to spite obama. you guys are still so angry.
everybody sees this so why don’t you guys just admit it.
I really don’t care who wins. mccain’s not going to do anything in the white house if he wins. he just wants to win. he said so himself. and obama? what can he really undo in 4 years that took bush 8 years to do??
you guys should be ashamed of yourself!
you’re mad because the media’s picking on palin’s daughter? how about mccain picking on obama’s kids? and what did he say about chelsea clinton? what hypocrisy.
it only took you guys a few months to embarrass us women in the public eye!

spin, it is you who seems to be fanatically spinning out of control. we didn’t mention in this post that we would support governor palin’s policies. we simply say, that the woman should succeed or fail on her own merits, not because of her gender.
on September 3rd, 2008 at 8:27 pm
spin your realy not to bright are you.1st you come in here slam these girls did you even ready any of the gals post on here you,D see that there pissed at the way Palin. been treated & you come then you said i should be ashamed myself thats where you really f**D up as far a being bitter . from your post your the one thats sounds bitter. you want anything from anyone in here why dont you start treated them & me with some respect or shut the F*** u*

on September 3rd, 2008 at 9:23 pm
Thanks boogieman7167! Spin sounds like they are spinning out of control! You are right - I never said whether or not I’ll vote for McCain, just that the treatment of Palin is wrong. I don’t agree with all of her positions on the issues but to actually have the media question her decision to run because she has 5 kids really burns me up! They would never ask that of a man who had 5 kids!

on September 3rd, 2008 at 10:46 pm
As a witness to the intimidation by the Obama camp upon the Hillary delegates, it was absolutely disgusting. They told the delegates that if they did not change their votes from Hillary to Obama, their political careers would be fucked! Sorry about the language but they said fu**ed!
We have had several murders in the democratic party this past year also, further intimidating the delegates. Do they vote the votes of their constituents or do they cave to the messiah?
You saw what happened, they caved under the pressure.
Hillary was playing fair, while those in the Obama camp were lying, cheating and stealing their way into the nomination. Obama’s nomination was bought and paid for long before the convention. It started with the fraudulent caucus’s, fraudulent voter registration, intimidation, sexism, racism–used exclusively by the Obama camp themselves.
Somehow they threatened Hillary and Bill, they are thugs remember? I can only imagine what they said or did to them, but anyone who has ever watched Hillary or Bill speak, knows that the things they said, they were forced to say. I guarantee that all three of the Clinton’s will be voting for Hillary’s long time friend, John McCain. The Clinton’s are not going to suddenly change their minds and decide that Obama now has experience, has now become a born again christian, that his relationships with known terrorists really doesnt matter, that all the fraud during the caucus’s didn’t matter, that all the fake numbers called in by the Obama camp didn’t matter, that we the 18 million voters, who were not recognized by our delegates are now being recognized, that lying, cheating, stealing, and corruption have now become part of the democratic principals, they would no sooner admit that than cast a vote for Obama, it wont happen.

on September 3rd, 2008 at 11:49 pm
Good post, sista. The mere fact that Gov. Palin has taken on the “good ole boys” and won and done so with style and class makes her deserving of our support. But for the sexism in the media, our gal Hill would be the next President of the U.S. We can’t allow another outstanding woman to go down like that.
on September 4th, 2008 at 12:01 am
Hey Spin!
Let me clear something up for you. I don’t speak for anyone else here, but I WILL be voting for McCain in Nov. Want to know why? Obama is an arrogant, do-nothing, self-absorbed, elitist, waffling Chicago thug. That’s what he is. If you want me to explain my specificities for those, ask and I will. To lump it together, he is the star in an orchestrated event to keep the Democratic party from actually choosing a quailified Presidential nominee this year. I am also appalled at the way the DNC and Obama’s campaign belittled and battered Senator Clinton. I actually watched and listened to all the public appearances. I know who pulled out the race card and who used it. I actually saw the video of John Kerry saying that he backed Obama because he would be an in to moderate muslims, and, of course, that he was a black man. Yes, such a video clip did exist, once upon a time. Then I watched the Obama people, the DNC and the MSM concock the racism badge for Bill and Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro.
Then I watched Obama engineer the rules committee fiasco, you see, I’m from Florida, and we are a little sensitive about disenfranchisement here. I also watched the elaborate dance to make sure that Hillary’s 18,000,000 votes were never counted, and in the end, that is exactly what happened. Don’t even start with how HIllary made that decision. A real democratic party would have simply said that all votes should be counted. I hate to say this, but John McCain would have taken his chances, and let the vote go on. By the way, I also know, for a fact, that Hillary delegates were removed and replaced with Obama delegates. Supposedly in the name of gender equity, but at the convention, there was no racial equity.
So, lets sum up. A lousy, thug of a candidate, with no experience in the matters that count.
Behavior of a nature that should make all of us gag.
And, one more thing. John McCain gave us a chance to put a woman in high office. She is not Hillary, She is not a Democrat. We disagree on a lot of issues, but if we do not take this oppotunity to advance a women, finally, then we will lose that chance for another twenty years. There is no way to beleive that if the left wing boys and their female accomplaces get away with shoving two women out of the way this year, that other female politicians will be willing to try.
McCain-Palin aren’t going to destroy the country,.. Obama just might, after all he has already destroyed one of the two major parties.
on September 4th, 2008 at 12:03 am
As a former Hillary supporter (both time and max money) I was shocked at the sexist double standard in the media and DNC. Now I’m even more offended by the liberal offense against Gov. Palin for daring to run for high office and have children. I thought this sexism was what Democrats were supposed to be against, instead the so-called Progressive Left is becoming the leading example of sexism. I have a twenty-one year old daughter. I want her to be able to, “walk through any door of opportunity.” McCain Palin is getting my vote.
on September 4th, 2008 at 12:59 am
“Mrs. Palin Goes to Washington (via St. Paul)!” Where is Frank Capra?
As I said, I don’t agree with the governor’s policies, but she did give a good speech. Her folksy style will resonate. There are now reports that her teleprompter was on the fritz during the speech, so apparently Governor Palin can deliver pretty well the old-fashioned way… kudos.

calling her that wont get the female vote back
you piss one of them off you piss them all off
on September 4th, 2008 at 1:56 am
yes, i heard about the Reid “shrill” quote. Campbell Brown had a bit of a tiff with the male CNN talking heads over that one. It was amusing and a bit shocking… I’m not used to the media admitting to sexist comments… even if they didn’t make them.

on September 4th, 2008 at 3:26 am
Well said! All women deserve respect, not just the ones who agree with you! She’s the Republican’s Obama–ONLY WITH SUBSTANCE!! Her speech was terrific! It was the best speech waged at Obama yet! To be fair I’m an Independent, very lukewarm to both Parties. I just vote on leaders usually. I voted for Hillary in the primary, and after I saw the corruption, sexism, media bias, voter fraud, elitism, and scum I RAN from the Democrats! I looked at McCain long and hard before going with Hillary in the primaries, so I didn’t have far to run! Seeing what they’ve been doing to Sarah only reaffirms that decision! She can obviously hold her own though! The left really makes me sick right now, and this is coming from someone who’s only half and half on the issues with both Parties! I never believed Obama would deliver on ANY issue either! McCain made a great choice! These two are going to reform Washington. Change is coming after all!!!! P.S. You guys are the good half of the Party!

Anne Nowlin ,
I have to correct the gay comment. I am a lesbian and I know that yes she opposes gay marriage, but vetoed a bill that would have denied benefits to gays in Alaska, meaning she gave them benefits! Her reason was from a constitutional prospective I think. McCain opposes gay marriage, but thinks individual state’s should decide. Obama is for gay marriage, but thinks individual state’s should decide! Two different personal views, but the same solution! I’m personally a born again Christian and I believe in creationism. I think it should be left out of school, but my best friend who is a gay man thinks it should be taught in school if evolution is. I’m a Christian but obviously I don’t think homosexuality is a sin (they take all of that from the Old Testament). I also believe men wrote the bible and from that early on oppressed women, I think Jesus meant for us to be equals. I don’t believe the Supreme Court would ever overturn Roe v Wade, and I don’t think they should! That’s enough examples, I think you get the point. I’m truly a unique person in the middle! For some of us we don’t lean hard left or right! It gets confusing in my world sometimes. : ) I really think McCain would be better for America, he’s a liberal Republican, just ask his own Party. He’s also an American hero! I like many things about Sarah Palin. I know she is more conservative than me, but she has many strengths and she too would be good for the country. In my opinion only of coarse! I was actually emailing McCain for sometime pushing for her. I knew she would help him win his base. She’s a maverick. She’s a Washington outsider. She’s a reformer. She’s HONEST. She’s a breath of fresh air.. She’s the conservative McCain, lol! She’s also quite attractive and I have a little crush on her, so I may be bias! : )
on September 4th, 2008 at 4:15 am
DaddysDarlin,
I had to comment on what you said about Bill having to give that speech. I think the Clinton’s WANT us to vote for McCain. Have you seen the comment Bill made one day before he gave that speech? (About candidate x and y) Here’s the vid:

Vote for “y” : )
on September 4th, 2008 at 4:27 am
Also, John Kerry asked John McCain to be his running mate in 2004! (He denies it now) Joe Biden said he’d run WITH McCain. There’s a reason McCain’s Party doesn’t like him and just got happy about when they got Palin. Democrats are really far reaching with this third Bush term smear,John McCain is no Bush! good morning everyone
on September 4th, 2008 at 9:10 am
Thanks, no vote for McCain, not even because he picked a woman VP.
Why?
Because Palin has proven links to Dominionist Theocrats - people who honestly don’t care about the freedom of religion for anyone but Christians.
Groups she’s a member of support Joel’s Army, the Quiverfull groups, Jesus Camp, God Warriors - all groups who have steeplejacked the GOP years ago, and are now trying to do that to the entire United States.
Read Dogemperor’s diary over on the orange ball of snot: http://dogemperor.dailykos.com/ … but don’t just read his two latest posts about Palin - read the links he provides.
What’s Dog’s bona fides/angle? He escaped from one of these brainwashing dominionist churches.
They have admitted, in private, and in public, that their goal is to recreate America as a Christian nation.
Have fun with the new Taliban, bearing the cross of christ, and waving the american flag.
on September 4th, 2008 at 9:54 am
Sarah comes off very capable , smart, and strong! But, she also believes in teaching creationism instead of science, is against equal rights for gays, is against reproductive freedom, is in big oil’s pocket, says the verdict is still out on global warming, and will toe the GOP think tank line. Maybe you don’t like Obama, but wouldn’t it be nice to find out what is really going on in our government? Think about the us attorny scandal and politics being brought into our justice department and please remember what happened to Valerie Plame Wilson. We will never know the truth about the last 8 years if the GOP keeps the White House!
on September 4th, 2008 at 9:55 am
get real justzisguy your scare tactics wont work in here.
on September 4th, 2008 at 9:56 am
palin reframed the entire race and has made it about middle america, and about character which supercedes ideology. in a democratic process (ideally) both policies and ideology are negotiable and entail give and take. it is evident that mccain and palin recognize that and act accordingly. my problem with obama is that everyone must fall into lock-step behind him. that, to me, is the antithesis of the democracy.
on September 4th, 2008 at 10:22 am
I love Sarah Palin!! I researched all of McCain’s short list picks a couple of months ago and I fell in love with her. I couldn’t believe it when he actually picked her, I sent a million emails suggesting it,lol! I knew for sure there was something about her when I saw the media’s obvious reaction! : ) She was amazing last night! Finally, an honest politician who’s one of us! She is a breath of fresh Alaskan air! The Obama camp must be worried now! I can’t wait to see Hillary and Palin go at it in four years! The two most powerful women in politics representing both Parties! The sexism can take a long walk off a short pier in 2012!

it pales in comparison with what we know of obamas past & his buddys
Oh, so obama’s past is worse than supporting someone who said that people who favor a secular view of america should be considered illegal aliens?
obama’s past is worse than someone who supports groups whose avowed intent is to get the USA involved in a nuclear war over israel, so as to bring armageddon, and the second coming?
obama’s past is worse than supporting groups which encourage women to have more children than they can financially support, raise them in seclusion until they’re in their 20’s, and send them out as god warriors to convert more people?
why don’t you admit your willful ignorance, boogieman?
You haven’t read any of the links, because you don’t care to know the information - if it’s someone who opposes obama, they must be all right in your book.
I’m glad the people running this site aren’t sticking their heads in the sand like you are.

Hey Spin, This was not about voting for a woman when millions of us supported Hillary. It was about voting for the most qualified, And yes, I am pissed off because I cannot believe how the demos could actually annoint this arrogant do-nothing to be our Presidential candidate. And YES! I am now voting for McCain. I am voting for McCain because I am a woman. Every day of my life I wake up, look down, and yes, it is there or not there depending on your perspective and my womanhood is critical. More critical to me than my disagreeements with the Repub party platform and the Demo party needs to know this by watching millions of women turn their back on the party BECAUSE they are woman. They must watch, they must weep and they must know that they made a big mistake.
on September 4th, 2008 at 10:47 am
well obviously governor palin has excited some folks on both sides of the aisle. to all of you supporters of senator obama, thanks for visiting. i will say it again. hireheels is not supporting either candidate, stop putting words our my mouths. some voters who comment on this blog will support mccain/palin others will support obama/biden, still others will vote a third party— some may choose none of the above. we have a secret ballot in this country, honor that and honor yourselves. if you want to express your views here, do so with decency and in the true spirit of a policy debate otherwise you’ll be banned from this site. carry on.

thank you jzg. i will. i think bringing in church affiliations could be quite dangerous for both sides.
on September 4th, 2008 at 11:20 am
Voting for McCain-Palin is not voting outside of issues. I am voting for the most basic of issues: honesty, fairness, courage, integrity…things so basic that, without them, the other issues mean nothing.
I cannot trust a misogynist to protect women’s rights. I cannot trust an opportunist and lier on any policy, no matter how good it sounds. I cannot trust the judgement of someone who changes his position according to which focus group he is addressing. And I cannot follow a leader who disenfranchised me, even if he tried to sweep it under the rug later on.
Issues? Yes there are differences, on some policies, but the most basic things, those things that make us Americans, those things are obviously missing from the Democratic Party now, and I don’t know if they will ever return.
on September 4th, 2008 at 12:08 pm
I believe McCain’s choice of Palin will seal the deal for him. Will Hillary supporters now be more inclined to vote for him? Yes, I do think many of them will. Will some of them vote for him just because he has a (smart and saavy) woman on his ticket? Yes, and what is wrong with that? We wouldn’t vote for Obama anyway. Everyone understands why many Blacks will vote for Obama because he is Black, so ge the understanding that some women will vote for a woman too. Women know we and our families need to see strong, intelligent women succeed in higher offices and positions. Differences in policy? Support this woman now and next time it is lmore likely there will be a choice of a woman with views closer to home (Hillary, I hope-but at the top of the ticket). McCain definitely has my vote, and Palin makes is so much easier to cast that vote.

hey boogie, I don’t like obama, either, but i think he’s a lesser evil than mcsame, likely to not make it through a full term, leaving a theocrat as the president.
on September 4th, 2008 at 12:41 pm
way to go boogie, first one to swear in this debate, first one to keep going without actually doing any research.
Here’s a suggestion - either look at the links, or admit you don’t care what they show, that no matter what, to you, obama is the devil incarnate.
I’ve tried being reasonable, I’ve tried to present you with hard data - you continue to ignore the information, and continue to beat your chest in a display of anger, like all abusive people do.
Keep it up, it shows all of us just how well mannered you are.

I think he is a dirtbag, too.
I just think he is a less dangerous dirtbag than mccain/palin.

Hey, boogieman, if you _dis_believe what’s on dailykos, _just_ because it’s on dailykos, well, you’re as bad as you claim I am.
However, boogieboy - I actually click _through_ the site, to see what it’s sources are.
look at the national enquirer - everyone _knows_ they are a useless tabloid that never gets anything right - except they got the edwards affair thing right, didn’t they, before anyone else did.
go ahead, you’re just proving my point, boogie - that you choose to remain ignorant.
Youo don’t like that it’s hosted on dailykos?
it’s hosted on newsvine too: http://dogemperor.newsvine.com/

hey boogie, I know you think you just scored some sort of credit with the girls (like this is some sort of popularity contest for you to get a date), but show me where, in this discussion, I have said that I think obama is great and wonderful.
You can’t.
I already said, repeatedly, that I think obama is no good.
But I think he is a less no good than mccain/palin.
Listen, before you make yourself look any more foolish and lazy - either do your own research, which I have spoonfed to you, or quit trying to argue with someone who uses information, and not blustering like you.

Hey, boogie, I htink you need to go back and look at the record here: even when I have disagreed with the women running this site, I’ve been respectful to them.
but to you, boogie and fuzzy, and others who come here and intentionally act like some sort of thug bouncer, throwing around insults and calling poster’s manhoods into question (which you have repeatedly done), no, I will show exactly what respect you deserve.
Little.
When you come back with nothing but repeated lies and accusations (paid blogger), when you refuse to even look at accurate information provided, because you don’t like the source, you prove you are just another joe-six pack, looking to seem important in front of the “girls”.
Have fun with you continued gorilla strong arm tactics, boogie; meanwhile, I’m actually researching candidates, and supporting people who are supporting candidates.

For all the questions about Palin, I still am absolutely amazed by the pass the media has given Obama! Most significant is how the media ignores his long time association with Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorhn. While many voters are too young to remember who these folks even are, in the late sixties and early seventies, their pictures were on the wall of every post office in America. That’s what happens when you are on the FBI “most wanted” list. These two anarchists (domestic terrorists) were on the lam for about ten years. Once caught, the Carter Justice dept messed up the case against them and they were released on a technicality. They were never found not guilty, nor acquitted! They continue to be totally unrepentant about their bombings of federal buildings and police stations, including one where people were killed! Obama has a long history of association with this couple. While that doesn’t make him either an anarchist or a traitor, it may define the direction of his politics and w…

#7 spin,
I’m an Independent and I voted for Hillary. I’m truly lukewarm to both Parties! I had looked at McCain the primary before choosing Hillary! After the corrupt sexist biased DNC and MSM had their say I RAN to John McCain’s camp! I also looked up all of his “short list” candidates and read up on them. It took me 10 minutes to fall in love with Sarah Palin upon my research. I didn’t care she was ultra-conservative.There was something about her! I knew she would help McCain with his base who think he’s an Democrat. I also knew she was a Washington outsider who had fought corruption and stood up to her own Party, making her a maverick in her own right! She’s his political soulmate. It’s like a bipartisan ticket-he’s more of an Independent and she’s a Republican, but they are both mavericks! They have both worked across Party lines, not Obama. I joined the PalinForVp.blogspot website where young Republicans had started a petition for her on the ticket. We emailed McCain and put info about her on the site. “Troopergate” started right around the time she was first mentioned as a possible pick for McCain by Alaskan Democrats who paid for an investigation! There went the Democrats again destroying a strong woman! I didn’t think she’d be on the ticket b/c of the scandal and I knew they did it b/c they were afraid! You can’t imagine how HAPPY I was when I turned on the t.v. and saw his pick!!! Of coarse the media was shocked, but that’s the maverick! Then of coarse came the media scrutiny that he picked some unqualified bimbo to reach out to Clinton supporters and it wouldn’t work b/c she’s conservative! They said it was an insult to women and Hillary Clinton! They didn’t even see what she was about to know why he could have picked her! You know what came next–the most vicious smear campaign lodged at a woman like I’ve never seen. The sexism is out of control, and it’s all coming from Democrats!!! The media bias was already out of control, but this got crazy! Some people said what about the Clinton supporters, aren’t you afraid they will get behind this woman b/c of sexism towards Hillary? Everyone started screaming about abortion! It became the #1 issue of this election!! The DNC treat women like they are their abusive boyfriends. They think they can treat us like garbage and threaten us with abortion so we’ll come back! It’s like their empty “I’m sorry”! ENOUGH! We have a better chance getting Republicans to go pro-choice instead of getting Democrats to RESPECT us! We have had plenty of Republican Presidents and Roe v Wade is still there! I’ll take my chances with the mavericks for four years! This is coming from an Independent voter, I think it’s sad most women in their Party have been handcuffed with abortion! I can’t wait for 2012–Hillary Clinton vs Sarah Palin–No more glass ceiling!

“Why?
Because Palin has proven links to Dominionist Theocrats - people who honestly don’t care about the freedom of religion for anyone but Christians.
Groups she’s a member of support Joel’s Army, the Quiverfull groups, Jesus Camp, God Warriors - all groups who have steeplejacked the GOP years ago, and are now trying to do that to the entire United States.” …
see this is the thing. they have been trying to do that since the ’70s - giving them four more years and not adding the threat of the totally incompetent, lying thug of BHO isn’t going to hurt that much…. I should also know… I went to one of them in my moniker Akron - as in Ohio. …
BHO could even be their anti-christ (despite the fact that I don’t believe in that stuff)….
in any event, I am going to vote for McCain first because I believe he is more honorable and will keep NYC my hometown safer. I am also happy to admit that I am even happier to vote for him because he “Hired Heels!” … and in the meantime, I will try to get involved in some moderate republican groups that can at least support teaching kids about sex and birth control.

- Americansoldier, many people were reckless in their youth as well. I don’t see the reason that would validate anything as of present. Professor Butler, certainly earn his right to voice his own opinion which I would not dishonor or anyone who served this country in the call of duty.
However, keep in mind that most of those veterans who served in vietnam war, was called under the draft resolution and some of us sign the dotted line. If you don’t beleived on these war, then file a conscientious objector and get out of there, man. IMO If you where in my unit, I wouldn’t want you next to me and what you are saying about McCain parading his badge of honor which truly he is not but, it can’t be help in regard the nature of the situation. Many of us who fought for our country find your statement really disrespectful towards the comradely of brotherhood that defined us who served proudly. I wish you could find another reason to not vote for mcCain, which are many I’m sure from what I’m reading. -peace

Rey, you said:
If you don’t beleived on these war, then file a conscientious objector and get out of there, man.
did I say that? No.
IMO If you where in my unit, I wouldn’t want you next to me
Again, you demean my service, without even knowing the character thereof - typical crap argument.
Rey, have I questioned any of your service?
No.
But you repeatedly do so to me, with zero justification.
Are there any vietnam vets who served honorably, yet still thought it was a mistake?
Yes.
what you are saying about McCain parading his badge of honor
Again, you misquote me, because you want to argue against what you wish I had said.
Here’s what I did say:
What truly disgusts about the republicans is how they keep trotting out the pow issue, like it makes mccain any more qualified than anyone else, and how dare we question his ability.
John McCain will never parade this “badge of honor” - he has his cronies to do it for him, and then he can say, repeatedly “I don’t want you all to focus on that”, which is really crocodile tears.
And if you think they aren’t parading it around, what was Freddy Thompson doing during his speech?
Parading it around.
Would I want you in my unit, Rey?
I have no idea, but I’m glad I don’t have to find out - I’d fear you more than the insurgents I’ve fought - I’d fear a friendly fire fragging.
on September 4th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
american soldier. thank you for your service. Please cast your vote as you see fit. know that you must question each and every candidate who runs for office. it doesn’t matter if they have been pow’s or hockey moms or established senators for decades or one for just a few years— ask those tough questions and ask them often. it’s our duty to do so. we must make informed choices, when we elect persons for positions that will impact our world so greatly. our checks and balances on the system are those questions, concerns and caveats. we are hiring a president in perilous and uncertain times heels— hire one that you personally think is truly worthy of the job.

Sara ,
I thought Hillary should be brave and speak out about it too, but I just heard she is now heading to the swing states to campaign for Obama and against Palin! I can’t believe she has to go do his work now! That is a dysfunctional Party! Bill Clinton saying what he did on that youtube video the day before he gave his “endorsement” speech! Does anyone know what those two really want? They send some mixed signals! No one defended Hillary in her Party and now she sits by and says nothing when they do it to this woman! Now, she will campaign against her! Is anyone else disturbed by any of this? We are obviously in this fight alone!
on September 5th, 2008 at 12:32 am

i can see where your comming from. but she did say she would campaign for him . i know it stinks. but i thinks she doing it aginst her will . give her a chance i think she will come out & say something against it. if she hasnt already.
on September 5th, 2008 at 1:16 am
That’s cool. I just really admire John McCain and while it may be hard to believe, being so in the middle he was my second choice the week I voted for Hillary! I really just don’t lean hard to either side, but what I’m most passionate about right now is how much I hate the DNC,MSM,SEXISM,and the Obama campaign! I actually like McCain’s running mate! I’ve always liked McCain, it was a tough choice for me in the primaries. I even considered Ron Paul at first, lol. Basically, if they take my first pick which left me heartbroken and use her to destroy my second pick I will feel so bad. Oh well, that’s politics I guess! It’s a dirty game! Not so much for me! I do hope she rejects the sexism, if she already hasn’t. I know she want use sexism, it just looks like Bo’s using her again to continue his coronation into the White House. I don’t think I’ve ever disliked a politician as much as Barack! I really think he’s going to be an awful President if he wins!

on September 5th, 2008 at 9:06 am
I’m juggling multiple crises right now, but I have to make a drive-by post on the subject of Palin. The girls are absolutely right on the subject of sexism. She’s getting hit with it and the Repubs are working the refs brilliantly to make it look like they’re the ones who are standing up for women. In one sense, they are, but that’s hardly the whole story.
Dominionists, to whom Palin has been linked (and not just by kooks, either), aren’t just run of the mill fundies, girls and boys–they’re actively working to infiltrate as much of the federal government as possible with an eye towards replacing the Constitution with their version of a Christian taliban. The HHS regs that just got posted about a “conscience” clause for docs/nurses that conveniently shafts any woman who doesn’t want to bear 18 children for the cause are just one piece.
Read Mikey Weinstein’s With God On Our Side–One Man’s War Against an Evangelical Coup in America’s Military for a taste of what they’re doing to take over the Air Force…you know, the branch that controls a shitload of America’s nuclear arsenal? that’s going on all over the military. I gotta stand up for JZG on this one. (And just because ABC, CBS, etc., aren’t covering it much doesn’t mean shit. They’re more interested in Britney Spears and Dancing with the Stars, anyway. Half of them wouldn’t know a story of real importance to the republic if it fell on them.)
We’re talking Handmaid’s Tale stuff here, kids. Do not kid yourself. I loathe Obama and what his handlers have done to my party, but I’m absolutely terrified of what dominionists want to do. If she gets the VP slot, well, I’d say there’s a good chance she’ll wind up president within 4 years, and that’s exactly what the Left Behind puppetmasters have been hoping for. I haven’t made up my mind what I’ll do, but since I’m a very blue state, my individual vote won’t matter much.
As for Daily Kos, yeah, they’re in general pretty awful since they jumped on the Obama bandwagon, but there are a couple of diarists with specialty knowledge or experience who post on particular themes not doused in kool-aid. I think that ex-cult member is one of them.
Peace, kids. Gotta run.
on September 5th, 2008 at 9:19 am
Stop wearing your heart on your sleeve, coz personally where I come from you dishonor the uniform.
Wow, are you really saying that to someone wearing the uniform?
Are you really that hate filled, and blinded by your own self-righteousness that you think no one in the military can have an opinion about the current political situation?
Last I checked, McCain isn’t president - so Americansoldier can criticize him as much as he wants.
You, rey, are a sick fool who likes to act like you have some sort of market monopoly on extolling military service, and chiding others over theirs.
Get off your high horse before someone knocks you off with more logic that you won’t understand.
on September 5th, 2008 at 9:25 am
jzg, ignore rey, I try to, when he hasn’t pissed me off I’m seeing red.
Sounds to me, even from the beginning on your very first post that you hate the military, Gov, or just looking for reason not to vote.
Wow, you can actually say that?
Then your reading comprehension skill a abysmal.
14 years I’ve been in uniform, and likely to be in for another 8 more.
Why? Why did I volunteer? To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic.
I see both foreign and domestic enemies of the constitution, but you rey, you seem to think you are fit to judge my service and my opinions.
You, sir, are no better than the people who lied about Kerry’s service and swiftboated him.
You sir, are no better than those who demeaned dan quayle’s service in the national guard.
You sir, are a muckraker, and worth only my spit.

Boog, it most certainly was me. I have no greater appetite for Obama–or his patrons at the DNC–than I did before. But like sista said, I calls ‘em like I sees ‘em. I’ve been sounding the alarm about dominionists and their ilk for a lot longer than I’ve been blogging here. Like sista said, everybody has to make his or her own decision based on the facts and their own priorities. Nobody in this race will be able to hide anything over the next two months, given the intensity of this cycle. I say, the more information, the better.
I’m not insulted that you questioned my identity based on my opinion, but I’m horribly offended that you thought I was t-bone. I mean, really, I handle the English language so much more gracefully than he does. Shame on you!

I just checked again and it’s down to 3.2.
His Favorable rating is at 3.8
Recently, I’ve heard the Communication Director of the O campaign reporting that the race will be close. What happened to all the confidence? What happened to all the prancing and dancing around like a show pony? What happened to that “yes we can” attitude.”

Now, if only both sides would hold true to what has been said many times: if the iraqi government we helped create wants us out, we should get out.
Does St John still think that, or does he still think we should be there for 100 years?
my life waits on the answer to that question.

I have since read that the Wisconsin Dems have replaced bartoshevich with another clinton delegate.
good on them, if they did so, but can anyone confirm or deny?

“Since I read O pays his blogger 13 cents a word”
why do you keep repeating this with _not one shred of evidence_ to back up that claim?
That makes you look as bad as the obama supporters you denounce.
americansoldier said,

I didn’t say i didn’t like what you’re doing, flowerchild2, I just asked you to follow some pretty standard guidelines when you make claims about the people you oppose: don’t lie about them.
What I do for a living?
Commenting on this site sure isn’t what i do for a living, flowerchild, but you want to continue to make accusations? go right ahead. I think by my “handle” it’s pretty easy to tell what I do for a living - what do you do for a living, flowerchild? make peace signs and talk about love and cosmic wonder?
“I never said it was absolute truth”
but you keep repeating it like you believe it to be absolute truth.
that does HRC a disservice, to have rumors floated by supporters without evidence - isn’t that what you accuse your enemies of doing?

“ikewise, we elect as many democrats as Senators as we can and we fight (not sure how to influence this) for Harry Reid to be removed as Senate Majority leader.”
It won’t matter if the senate continues to act like the senate in tiberius’ times, and vote to take oaths of allegiance to the emperor - i mean, president.
almost all of our current sitting senators are cowards: obama, mccain, clinton, dodd, all of them - and don’t you dare trot out mccain’s wartime pow status - that lost street cred as soon as he signed on to the military commissions act in 2006 - allowing the president to decide what torture is and isn’t.
as for “this isn’t a vote for war”, well, we know what people said, and we know what happened, and we also know that bush and company were itching for an excuse to go back to iraq - anyone who thought it wasn’t really a vote for war needs to pull their heads out of their fourth point of contact - because we keep hearing that congress didn’t _need_ to declare war, the authorisation to use military force was all that was needed.
frankly, i’m sick of the lot of them - they are all cowards who won’t stand up to the imperial executive and are leading us further and further down the road to a sustained war with islam.
not a war on terror - you can’t fight a technique. did we declare war on surprise sneak attacks from the air after pearl harbor?
No.
I’ve been there - we aren’t fighting terrorism, all that much, anymore.
we’re fighting a worldwide insurgency - non-contiguous, asymetrical warfare, against a defensive jihad.
the islamic fighters don’t hate out freedom, no matter what your congresscritters and elected sycophants try to tell you.
if they hate our freedom so much, why haven’t they declared a defensive jihad against sweden?
they hate american policies that have attacked the heart of islam - the attempt to set up secular states in muslim countries is a violation of sharia law.
_we_ value the seperation of church and state - they do not, and never have, so why are we trying to force it on them?
we keep supporting what amounts to dictatorships all over the muslim world, because those dictators claim they are helping to root out the extremist muslims, and those dictaorships keep the cost of oil well below what the _world_ market will bear, because the us markets will not, and the dictatorships will lose one half of their consumer base … all the while funneling the profits they do reap into jihadis.
i’d love it if clinton would have the ovaries to say it like it is.
i’d love it if obama had the balls to as well.
i don’t think either of them do.
who do i vote for - none of the above?
minx, i get your point about who you love - but the reality is that if they are serving right now, and will for the next four years (one term of whomever is the next president), they _will_ deploy again.
it’s not _if_, but when?
Stop stroking your ego

What exactly is your MOS? 34 years old, maybe 36? And why would I give a flying dung if you served for 14 years when you can’t do the same for McCain? You sir, are as arrogant as it comes and have haven’t got a clue what you are fighting for.

This lawsuit:
http://www.americasright.com/2008/09/berg-v-obama-update-friday-september-5.html
has traction in that it alleges that Obama was born in Kenya and because his father wasn’t American and his mother was only 18, he doesn’t qualify as a natural born citizen. Only his “online” birth certificate is available, verified by Factcheck (connected to Annenberg, so not exactly credible). A couple hospitals in Honolulu have been mentioned as birthplaces, but no records. Looks like his mother returned to Honolulu when he was about 4 days old and registered him then.
The MSM is lazy, scared, or both — don’t want public to realize that no one properly vetted Obama.
And where’s the record he ever registered for Selective Service?? Not registering doesn’t disqualify him for president, but he should have — unless he wasn’t a citizen.
on September 5th, 2008 at 11:44 pm
Ibi - will find out in 19 days. The question is, who will represent the democratic nominee for the general election if these gain any traction. I supposed they huddle and come up with a nominee, lets hope it’s not Biden.

I cannot believe the horrilbly sexist comments that Sally Quinn made about Governor Palin recently. You would think that she believes all OTHER women should stay home, watch the kids and bake cookies! Sally, you mentioned that you have a child with a learning disability…then quit your job and stay home with the child to rear him yourself rather than have your nanny do it. And, by the way, his name is not “GEORGE” Romney, it is Mitt.

USS Mount Whitney is the third American naval ship to deliver supplies to Georgia.
The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Dallas and the USS McFaul delivered more than 230,000 pounds of aid to the port of Batumi, south of Poti, when they arrived in recent weeks, the Navy said.
The Mount Whitney is the command ship for the Sixth Fleet of the U.S. Navy, which calls the most sophisticated vessel of its kind ever commissioned. It will also coordinate the work of a group of NATO

Palin was hard to listen to. She has that tone to her voice. Shrill was a good word. Yes, it’s used to describe women and is perjorative, but muscular is used more to describe men, than women. So what? There happens to be a certain decible range that offends the ear, and Sarah Palin reaches it frequently. Her pointing figure doesn’t help either.
Her speech was so unnecessarily nasty, full of distortions, gratuitous insults. One of the attributes I admire about Hillary is her civility. She always behaves with grace. She is tough, but reasoned. She has credibility because she doesn’t shoot her mouth off all over the place.
I wish they’d stop talking about Palin’s sex and her kids so they could concentrate on her really stupid ideas and policies.
If she gets to be the first woman president (or VP) it may set back women’s cause for a century!
And doesn’t it just gall you to see McCain sporting his perky 2nd wife, young enough to be his daughter, and now his VP? Made me grateful to see Barbara Bush, looking her age, on her husband’s arm. McCain screwed his first wife, big time. Nancy Reagan barely spoke to him for years because of it. His x-wife’s only statement about the divorce was: He was 42 wanting to be 25. Now he’s 72, wanting to be 55!
And to think the American people may fall for this phony and his sexist tactics.
on September 6th, 2008 at 9:50 am
try taking deep breaths, cara. whatever mccain’s baggage, he is ethically superior to the corruption that is obama. palin clocked him while winning over the american heartland at the same time. she’s a once in a lifetime politician.
on September 6th, 2008 at 12:14 pm
to cara:
Women have been successful all across the board and
the vp position isn’t any different. Is Cara a female name,
you are making comment about her shrill voice. Get a life!!
on September 6th, 2008 at 12:51 pm
In the long run, what matters is that Sarah Palin will take on the elite cocktail party politicians network in Washington D.C. and get rid of the bums and help clean up the corruption just like she has done in Alaska.
While the condescending Obama tells us how he will take our money and use it ‘for the greater good’, Sarah and Mr. McCain tell us that they want US, US that is, to be able to determine how to spend our hard-earned money. While taxes on virtually everything would rise under an Obama presidency (oh, don’t worry, he won’t take anything from YOUR side of the bucket.), the McCain/Palin ticket does not wish to take our money to simply fund projects which will buy them more votes.
That is enough for me right there.
I will not vote my Party, as my Party does not have ANYTHING to offer ME or my family. We all work hard and want to determine our own future. We do not want the government to tell us what is best for us, because we already know what is best for us.
I will support John McCain and Sarah Palin, will even CONTRIBUTE to their campaign, and will rejoice that we have a woman on the ticket who is exactly the right woman at exactly the right time. GO SARAH!
on September 6th, 2008 at 12:54 pm
That’s quite a post Ms. Cara. Perhaps you should take Annieem’s suggestion, take deep breaths and reflect on the following:
“And why behold the mote that is in another’s eye, but consider not the beam that is in your own eye? Or how will you to another say, Let me pull out the mote out of your eye; and, behold, a beam is in your own eye? First cast out the beam out of your own eye; and then you shall see clearly to cast out the mote out of another’s eye.”
Then come back and talk policy and ideas with us.

Now, minxie, you’re going to get boogie or rey out claiming you’re in the tank for Obama …
on September 8th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
thank you sista!
The exDemocratic party should be ashamed of itself. The Obamaphiles vilified and degraded Hillary throghout the primaries with a great assist from the media misogynist fratboys–not to mention the ressurection of the dead and busing of rapper-wannabes to shady BHO-dominated caucuses!
Well, the shoe’s on the other foot now! And the Republicans, unlike the ex Dems won’t take crap and will protect their own against harm! But the horrible sexist intrusive abuse suffered by the Pallin family was truly apalling. I read an OPED piece by Rob Kall, an Obamabite, and the headline read:
“the Smoking Womb”. Yet another had Amniotic Fluid breaks and so on and so on by juvenile obstetricians on the BHO Blooger-teams of Misogyny. Disgusting. As if Hillary’s on-air woman-bashing holocaust weren’t enough!
Anyway, with the MSNBC’s firing today of Mathew and Olberman two sexists whose vitriolic attacks on Hillary were horrendous throughout (to the point of contemplating killing her!), we can breath a little easier knowing that, thanks to Hillary’s historic run, the world for women and girls willl be a little more hospitable.
Imus got fired for uttering his inapporpirate sexist comment about the Rutgers girls’ team.
Yet sexist commentary ran rampant and is an acknowledged part of media culture!
Just view CNN’s excellent one-of-a-kind segment with Howard Kurtz and Carol Costello: “Media and Misogyny” and Media Center’s “Sexism Sells, but we’re not Buying It” Incredible vitriol! And not a word from Obambi to stop the war on Hillary by his media bumbuddies! Well….the tide’s a turning….
Karma’s a bitch, Barack…and it’s gonna bite you hard November 4th!
on September 13th, 2008 at 3:06 am
can one of you explain how pointing out that every time palin opens her mouth, lies spill out, is sexism?
or that she is being investigated for abuse of power and obstruction of justice?
or that she left her home town of wasilla in a 20 million dollar hole?
or that she really has no idea how much energy is provided by the state of alaska to the rest of the lower 48
or that this independent woman cc’d all emails to her husband and had him sit in on legislative meetings
or that her postions on abstinence only education didnt seem to work with her own daughter
you know what is true sexism? nominating her just because she is a woman and might get independent women and hillary supporters to vote for a ticket thats policies are against their own best interests
coulter might be right…maybe the 19th amendment should be overturned
