flaccid bounce or bona fide puma pounce?
“Where’s the Bounce?” Has it been pounced upon (and squashed) by a “non-existent” pack of cats and an unlikely GOP Veep pick? There is no question that Senators Obama and Biden have a following — I sat in that sea of 80K revelers this past Thursday. Don’t be shocked HH peeps, I have said despite my disgust with the Democratic Party leadership’s tactics and my reservations regarding Senator Obama’s ability to deliver in the general election — I would at least listen to the guy if he “won” the nomination. With all the screams, whoops and expertly choreographed fanfare, the general populous seems to be unmoved (at least from a voting standpoint) by the Democrats’ big show.
Most of the major poll results coming out of the DNC give Obama/Biden a 1 to 3 point lead; the Gallup gives them a 6 (with a flaccid 4 point bounce). The punditry would tell us that the tenor of the day historically would suggest that the Dems would be up by double digits after the DNC. Why is there no significant hike in the
numbers? Are those elusive PUMA cats now coming out of their dens and scratching the glossy veneer off of the “I have a dream” scheme? Fox talk show host Greta Van Susteren put it out there on her Wire yesterday asking, “Is PUMA real?” This PUMA says, “Yes we are real. Our movement to reform fraudulent Party practices is real; our fight against voter fraud and disenfranchisement is real; our fight against sexist and misogynistic behavior in politics and in the media is real and our VOTES (or non votes) in November will be real.”
And if you don’t believe me, just ask Greta’s Husband!
Looks like even more disaffected Dems are either joining our pack, echoing our grievances against the system or are at least acknowledging us as a viable group of voters… John Coale (Ms. Van Susteren’s husband) came out today on a Newsweek video interview endorsing Senator McCain. He not only outspokenly cited being offended by the sexism during the primary he was equally offended by the (Obama) Campaign’s and the Democratic Party’s lack of condemnation of it. He also mentioned that other notables will announce their support of McCain/Palin in the coming days. Former Congresswoman and Vice Presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro also came out in recognition of PUMA in a recent New York Daily News article.
I even spotted James Carville stealthy moving through the crowd on 16th Street in Denver last week sporting a gleaming new gray multicolored pair of PUMA trainers. Was that a cleverly broadcasted message or a merely a fashion statement? You decide.
While HireHeels has not endorsed any candidate, we have been inundated with emails since Senator McCain’s selection of Governor Palin. It is no longer a question to us whether millions of disaffected Dems will cross party lines to vote for the Republicans in the general election. We find this viral and organic movement of millions to be quite astonishing.
Princess Wears Prada and I have quipped for months that we should market that little blue pill to the McCain campaign to give it a much needed lift— ironically it now looks like Obama/Biden is suffering from ED (electile dysfunction). Perhaps “Doctor Dean” could write them a much-needed scrip. Although we contend it’s probably way too late to stimulate a reversal — as the PUMA’s roar will be collectively heard from coast to coast one vital vote at a time.

on September 2nd, 2008 at 6:29 am
FABU SISTA — i suspect we will hear from more hi-profile pumas as they come out of the den in the coming weeks…many delegates in denver have admitted to lurking on our site for 3 months…the polls you cite don’t even tell the whole story…it’s worse for obama/biden than the pundits realize or want to admit.
btw, Ms. Ferraro also invoked pumas in a fox intvu the other day — and let’s not forget the mention of pumas on meet the press..
pumas are a force and here well past november 4th!!!

I do beleive it is “buyer’s” remorse. The most liberal senator doesn’t bother me as much as Obama is not electable because of lack of experience. He simply has no real work history and his judgment with regards to his associations remain rather questionable.

obama is up by 6, 8, and 9 points in three new polls (Gallup, Rasmussen, and National Journal, respectively).
he’s up by 6 points across the average of all polls, according to real clear politics. nterestingly, those polls came out after mccain picked palin. funny. no comment from the puma’s on palin? a woman with a) less experience than obama, and b) opposes everything hillary believes in.
If you support mccain, you’re frauds.
on September 2nd, 2008 at 3:06 pm
The last report I saw about Hillary’s big donors showed only 70 out of 300 donating to Obama. I believe that Fox carried news that Donald Trump was one of her big donors and that he has now given money to the McCain camp.
What was Donna Brazile doing at the Republican convention? With her angry mug and attitude it would not surprise me if the police hit her with pepper spray because they thought she was a protester.

Sebastian Knight ,
I’m glad that you guys are breathing better, maybe you guys should try being civil and stop the violence in St. Paul.
a) less experience than obama, and b) opposes everything hillary believes in.
*roll eyes* must be the kool-aid..she’s running for vp and BO for potus. I miss the comparison in these arguement. Btw she is more experience than BO, just not in dirty politic.
on September 2nd, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I think it was an accident with the pepper spray. She was walking close to the police, using pepper spray to control the violent protestors. Maybe she was meeting Karl Rove for lunch. It has been reported that she and Rove were holding secret meetings, conspiring to keep Hillary Clinton out of the race.

2 months ago at a cozy townhall meeting, a McCain supporter stood up and called Hillary a bitch. McCain laughed. After being clued in that his respnse wasn’t lucrative, John spouted his “respectful debate” mantra. Two weeks ago he took a video of Hillary bashing Obama and put it in a national ad to support Hillary’s anethema, a Republican campaign. Despite Hillary’s protests, he had his way with her…where I come from, that’s called rape. Two days ago, just like man dumping his wife for a young secretary, John put forth Palin for VP to balls out seduce you wounded warriors. Heels, I know Hillary Clinton, and Palin is no Hillary Clinton. My question is who are you really in this for?

I certainly don’t mind snarky diatribe on why you support your candidate of choice. Open debates are welcome, nasty attacks against readers and commenters on this site are not. have a lovely evening.

Boogs, what most of these voters don’t realize is that Obama ain’t going to do a darn thing for them if he wins the office. Also what needs to be realize is that the House of Representatives elections are coming soon. If obama gets elected this could be a bad investment considering the do nothing congress. Well arleast their banking on winning the majority again which I doubt very much. Then Joe will be force to babysit Obama….just a thought, I could be wrong if they fast enough.

A lot of us had looked at McCain in 2000 and thought he was not a bad person. If we got stuck with him, it wouldn’t be terrible. Then we got Bush, oh well. Then, this time when things started to turn to an obvious pay-off for Obama, a lot of us looked at McCain again and said, “Better him than the kid from Chicago who lies, cheats, and steals elections.”
That was how simple it was for me and a lot of my friends. Watching Denver was painful even though we kind of knew it was coming. Then the next day, John McCain gave us one hell of a present. He didn’t pick Hillary, or any other Democrat. He is a Republican, for crying out loud. But, he made it possible to put a woman in one of the highest positions in the country, even though our own party told us not only could we not have a women on the ticket, but we weren’t even needed anymore because of our insistance on backing a qualified woman for office.
If Brazile, Pelosi, Dean, and Obama pull this off and we lose the opportunity to advance a woman, again, then I doubt that the chance will come again for a very long time. This is not the only reason to vote for McCain, but it is an important one.

Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it. It began with the forging of the great rings. Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men who above all else, desire power. For within these rings, was bound the strength and will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of Mordor, in the fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged in secret a master Ring, to control all others. And into this Ring, he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life. “One Ring to rule them all.” One by one, free lands in Middle-Earth fell to the power of the Ring. But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of Men and Elves marched against the armies of Mordor and on the slopes of Mount Doom, they fought for the freedom of Middle-Earth.

“The inside information is, contrary to anything different that only foolish people might believe, both putative Presidential candidates are now doing nothing as much as losing the general election. The voters are panicked by the state of the economy, on which neither of the two has a clue, or is likely to ever discover a clue.
Unless Vice-President Cheney can start World War III very soon, in which case neither Obama or McCain would ever be President. The situation right now, is that the election could be called off, while the nation operates under an unelected “emergency government,” for the duration of the presently onrushing global, economic breakdown-crisis.
The only leading issue on the electorate’s mind is the plunging state of the U.S. and European economies, which means that Obama’s constituency as November approaches, will be, basically, the serried ranks of some Buppies and Boomers, that is, if the chain is not pulled on Obama, as has been expected, by some time during September-October.
Meanwhile, Senator McCain’s virtual breakdown in accepting the Governor of Alaska as a stand-in for the Senator Lieberman whom he really wanted, combined with the effect of several factors on the Obama candidacy, means, that, as of this moment, it is probable that neither will be a standing candidate come November. Gustav came as a welcome excuse for many Republicans’ non- attendance at this week’s opening of the nominating convention. Of course, nothing is certain, except chaos, unless we become lucky and get an option I would prefer.
British thuggery pushed Hillary out, but it also wrecked the Democratic Party’s likelihood of winning the election.
The problem is not limited to the intellectual incompetence of the two Presidential candidates. In effect, letting the British (e.g., Rohatyn, Soros) steer muddleheaded Nancy Pelosi into virtually shutting down the U.S. Congress for most of the past two years, and eliminating the only leading pre-Presidential candidate who has shown the ability to think like an actual President, the U.S.A. does not have the prospect of an actually functioning, properly elected President assuming office come January.
It is the reigning Federal political system, in the Executive Branch, and the leadership of both branches of the Federal legislature, together with the leading press, which are responsible for the general breakdown of the Federal political system at this time.
I am not proposing that that will be the situation come November election-day. In a situation like the present global financial and strategic crisis, the candidates nominated by the time the Republican conventions ends, may not be candidates when election-day arrives. Past Labor Day, the fact of the incompetence of the present top leaders in the Congress, the candidates, and the major press, will have begun to kick in.
You can nominate a zero, but no sane person would ever believe for long, that it was actually our President. So, Gustav saved many leading Republicans from disgusting themselves by attending the Republican nominating convention. As things stand now, the name of the next President of the U.S.A. might turn out to have been “None of the Above.”
As usual, when I am abroad for a few weeks, there has been a bit of an emotional breakdown in places such as Leesburg. Don’t let that discourage you; it happens regularly, and we have always survived such fits by the usual suspects before. In the meantime, we shall continue to do our job, and pay little attention to the perennial gaggle of silly gossips.
Many things are about to change, and that more or less profoundly, very, very soon.”
on September 3rd, 2008 at 12:41 am
Actually, Palin has more experience than Obama (for whoever up above said that), and I strongly believe we need an intelligent woman in a higher office. I think McCain made a brilliant move by choosing her, and now that I am 100% sure I am voting for him, I can see he isn’t so bad afterall. LOL And, of course, he is much better than the alternative this go ’round. Oh yes, I too am pro-choice, into the environment, and anti-war, and I feel no hesitation in voting for McCain-Palin given the Dems choice.

Good morning, All. Country before party. Obama has lied about crossing the aisle and has never done a thing to fight anything in either the Illinois legislature nor the US Senate. In the Illinois Senate he was described as a boxer who stood on the side lines, but never got into the rink. Lieberman is a PUMA. If you caught his speech, he blew up the chosen one and dispelled the myth of his candidacy.
It was quite amazing to see the Republican convention floor applaud President Clinton. Obama does not hold a candle to President Clinton. To expect his administration to reflect a Clinton presidency is folly. It won’t happen.
The dog and pony show is coming to an end.

I have little interest in the Rep. convention, but I happened to catch Lieberman’s allusion to Clinton and the applause. Think back to last week when Palin was introduced, and she brought up Ferraro and Hillary. Remember the tremendous applause? I was listening and what struck me was the deepness of the vocal response. In other words, it was a lot of Rep. men cheering Geraldine and Hillary. It may not give me a warm, fuzzy feeling for Reps., but it sure as hell makes my party look bad in comparison. It also says something else…that Hillary had a good chance of drawing Rep. votes in the general election. Granted, black Rep. may vote for BO because of color lines, but I doubt the numbers will be the same.
I am, right now, watching Fox and hearing that the McCain people feel there is a concerted effort to push Palin off the Rep. ticket.
Whoo, that would not be simply another case of party combat, that would be a direct hit at PUMA to make sure there is NO WOMAN anywhere that we can vote for!!
Not sure where to go with this, but I do think they have a case.

on September 3rd, 2008 at 1:29 pm
No. “Mr Rogers” is saying that our economic outlook is far worse than anyone is really aware. If you would like to know more about why and how we came to be in this current crisis–to which very few Americans are paying attention–suggest you see “1932″, the video produced by larouchepac. Whatever you may think of or, more likely only heard of, Lyndon Larouche, you should pay close attention to what his organization is saying and why losing the primary to obama was much worse for this country than the fact that he is inexperienced. Geo. Soros and other mega-wealthy, global soldiers-of-fortune are undermining our ability to sustain ourselves in the free-trade global economy. Hillary understood this and her economic plan, both foreign and domestic, would have headed-off or at least staunched the economic blood-letting that is headed our way. We are already in it and it shocks me that the average American is not the least interested. We currently have more home foreclosures per capita each month than were experienced during the Great Depression or any other depression this country has experienced. Again, the feds are bailing out banks in record numbers and other banks are folding in record numbers. None of the money that our federal government is using for the purpose of bailing out banks and propping up quasi-financial institutions is doing anything for this country’s infrastructure (either by rebuilding important roads, bridges, rail systems, utilities or dams) or creating new jobs that provide for a tax base or allow americans to pull themselves out of poverty.
“1932″ will give you a very good history of economics–the models of the earliest systems used in our modern world and was the reason we fought the War of Independence against them–”free trade” or “British system” and the model of our uniquely developed system of economics known as the “American System”.
There is always difficulty in explaining economic systems, but there are very distinct differences in these two systems and one or the other has always been in play in the U.S. since its inception. If you listened carefully to Fred thompson’s speech last night you will remember that he used the word “protectionist” in a derogatory way when describing the Democrats and praised bill clinton for passing NAFTA. There is your biggest clue as which side the republicans fall on the issue of economic policies. The economics of FDR (and the reason so many people wax nostalgic for his policies) were the American System or American School which, btw, were a redux of Lincoln’s enormously successful economic policies following the civil war. And although Lincoln was assassinated early in his presidency, his economic policies continued and the U.S. had one of the most, if not *the* most protracted periods of domestic and foreign economic progress in our history.
This is pretty exciting stuff, this economics. And to learn more will make you all the more knowledgeable about the candidates. The problem we are faced with today is that both main parties in our political arena are decidedly in the “free trade” camp and do not seem to care about the working men and women who make this country what it is. That is why we should look carefully at who is funding these elections; people like soros are very bad news.

Joe Biden has done an awful lot for our country. I do not understand what you are doing. And I am gravely worried that a President McCain will drive our country to lower depths. While I share your feminist outrage, I am not for ‘throwing the baby out with the bath water.’ I am not sure your militancy is very circumspect. I love you both dearly and am proud of your strength and your poise, but I can’t help but see cognitive dissonance in what you purport to stand for and what would be the logical extreme of your rhetorical directive.

Rey:
This wikipedia reference is quite an indictment against Lyndon Larouche. Let me first state that I am not a member of any of his organizations, but this summer I did get to know their west coast spokesperson quite well and speak with him on nearly a weekly basis. I know this man to be exceptionally well educated and well spoken. I admit that I was at first quite leary of their “message” because of what I had heard about Mr. Larouche. I’m not easily led, but I do try to keep an open mind.
I saw that the first charge again Larouche is one of anti-semitism. Actually the larouchepac’s east coast spokesperson is jewish as are many of their members.
Larouche is an oft-invited guest lecturer to many organizations, including groups of economic advisors in the u.s. and foreign countries. It’s important to check other sources on this rather than just wikipedia, I guess.
Their website is kind of weird, but much of the information that they produce is solid. I think that it’s just so marginalized that it’s easier for people to dismiss them as a bunch of crackpots. Nothing could be further from the truth, really. I think it’s just plainly a matter that larouche’s ideas don’t support free trade and those people who do are in charge of the msm and the organizations who would be harmed by the american school of economics that larouche champions.
I mean, if Lincoln and fdr used the american system, why would larouche be such a threat to people today?
on September 3rd, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Rey: I wanted to add that one of the most attractive things about the larouchepac is that they do not support any candidate and one of their core tenets is that people not follow a leader, but that they should educate themselves in all areas, history, economics, the arts, geography, etc., so they can think for themselves. They firmly believe that all citizens should be actively involved in understanding the world and its socio-economic systems in order to make informed, well thought-out decisions.
That doesn’t sound like a conspiracy, does it?

That doesn’t sound like a conspiracy, does it?
No…….if something doesn’t seems right, it’s usually worthed of investigation. my opinion regarding the larouchepac are actually favorable. In a sense, it’s idealogy set a better example to those who needs to know for our well being and our government. Although, I would really like to learn more in the prospect of what needs to be done to resolve the current issues in our economy verse the outcome of the current direction. Interesting stuff, dude or dudette……..

Oh! I get it. The D ticket is not fashionable. Now, now, no snide comment about the “new black.” It’s not.

annieem: I tried to go to the utube link but it said “no longer available”. Do you have a current link or should I simply go to sugar n’ spice’s site?
Rey: It’s dudette, thanks. “Woodhull” is the first __________.
A quick google will tell you who I am identifying with, with this handle.
All: Again, take a look at “1932″. It’s hugely informative, very entertaining and you’ll feel like an economics brainiac to-boot. It will put a lot of what hill was saying in perspective, too. I think it’s on the larouchepac website and you can download it.

Anieem: I’ll check out sugar n’ spice — the link wasn’t working for some reason.
Rey: It’s dudette, thanks. Woodull is in reference to someone who everyone here should know about. Do a quick google.
All: Do check out “1932″. It’s very informative and will give you a good perspective and insight to Hill’s economic views and will also give you some idea as to why the repubs “hated” the clintons. I think it’s available to download either on utube or the larouchepac site.
Best,

Sista! I’m hurt. I didn’t bash anyone on this site…just making cynical observations of people’s actions who put themselves out there. I mean c’mon, you lead your site with a fear mongering diatribe by Pat Buchanan? However since I’m always up for waking up, I will read the diary from annieem….oh and the only stretch is Palin as a substitute for Hillary.

To boogieman
That is so funny! How I wish I was from Mr Roger’s neighborhood! Alas I’m from the reddest of the red states….and where I come from…it was a metaphor, get it?

This is why I supported Hillary and still respect her enough to follow where she leads.
