summer blockbuster: sex, lies & videotapes

Posted on August 12th, 2008 in Princess Wears Prada by hireheels

Hillary Clinton couldn’t win in the potus-chasing boys club. Who could forget that sexist, snide comment by John Edwards, “I’m not sure about that coat,” accompanied by body language that was saying, “girl, you’re frumpy and washed up.” Oh really John? What, you prefer girls with spicier accessories like zebra headbands? You have the audacity to critique our gal’s wardrobe choices when your gal consciously dons a pink satin shirt (the cheap weave) with new age jewelry?

Yesterday many of us received media invitations to dish on Edwards, his affair and the impact on the race. At the behest of our resident moralist SistaChristian (she’s the “Charlotte” of the bunch), we declined. But I cannot let the prettiest boy of politics off scot-free. I just cannot.

I never trusted John Edwards. I never could put my finger on it (thank heavens!). Guess you could call it a girl thing. No, wait a minute…it’s a single-traveling-power-coiffed-biz-networking-hotel-visting-married-man-attracting girl thing. You don’t live this long in that world to not have radar worthy of a nuclear sub.
princess_wears_prada_byline

Last night Bill O’Reilly claimed his show “had the mistress story last spring…” You may as well add the rest of the msm powershouses to that list. I am sure NBC’s Andrea Mitchell and the late Tim Russert knew. No doubt it contributed to Chris Matthews’ constant coddling of Elizabeth Edwards (but this has nothing to do with her). And how about the media’s stealth campaign of non-coverage of the “white guy” (one reason put forth)? Was it because these journalists knew he hadn’t a shot in hell?

Translation: Everyone knew about relationship, including the Obama Campaign. But Hillary Clinton had to once again stand by and watch the boys club fist-bump and congregate on stage to score another faux win at her expense. The Edwards endorsement was, in my view, the most coveted and media hyped of the primary season. The possibility of it going to Clinton, the candidate who shared and later galvanized his base, would have changed the perception of the race. That it didn’t, surprised none of us, but hurt nevertheless.

Now we know it meant nothing. The massive gap between Edwards and his rural supporters was thought to be an economic one. Indeed, that is true. One need only look at his sprawling compound awkwardly facing a trailer park. But more strikingly is the gap in the class department. Mr. Edwards loses hands down.

As mom always said, “money can’t buy you class.”

It is only fitting that the scoop went to the hardest working little rag that nobody in the MSM pays any attention to, The National Inquirer. Shame on the MSM for holding back information they felt was beneath them. The National Inquirer not only prints news that’s fit to print but news we want to know. Yeah, I said it.

this is just part of the “don’t want Hillary at any cost” club. That she is smarter..doesn’t matter, that she is courageous…doesn’t matter. That she knows policy backwards…doesn’t matter. That 18 million voted for her..doesn’t matter. That she is Hillary and a woman…MATTERS.

What a difference it might have made if Hillary had won Iowa.

And I feel bad for Elizabeth. But when did she know? Could she have stopped it?

It now seems painfully clear that in these matters, it was never really a case of iokiyar (it’s okay if you’re a republican) but iokiyabac (it’s okay if you’re anyone but a clinton).

I’m not crazy about getting into the argument that Clinton might have been stronger in Iowa had Edwards not been a lying sumbitch at the time. Hillary sure could have dome some things better there, for sure. But Princess is right, in my humble opinion. It’s all about the he-man-woman-haters-club, version 2008, and to think he could say the moralistic things he said about Bill Clinton while he knew he was a trailer-trash-chasin’ horndog himself just makes me ill.

Okay so the enquirer gets so much bad press, but here’s the deal. they do a lot of investigating and they are right a lot of the time. my friend is an attorney who handles
very high profile cases and she’s routinely surprised at how they know stuff that a. only counsel should know or b. that counsel doesn’t even know yet! so next time you’re stalling in the grocery line check out the obama headlines. just sayin…..

We make way too much of people’s sexual indiscretions, imo. Frankly, I could not care less. That being said, the exploitation and manipulation of personal vulnerabilities for political gain is shameful. If Edwards was politically blackmailed by Camp “O” that story needs to be brought to light and condemned by the msm, pronto.

  9. on August 12th, 2008 at 5:39 pm

i agree cinie….it was very weird how the edwards endorsement went down…..remember how he mysteriously disappeared for a long, long time…..

    i smell a rat…

and minxie….i’m actually in the camp that thinks obama was soooooooooooo hot in iowa, he still would have taken that caucus…. wait til y’all hear ’bout the caucus rigging round the country…it’s all coming out at the convention…

also, Obama’s HOpefund pac paid huge sums to iowans….that caucus was practically bought!

oh, princess. you tell it like it is. i kind of liked ed”words” in the beginning but how easily we can be fooled. just look at the teflon king in the empty suit. the msm is so predictable and plastic. they think they are responsible for using their power to promote their darlin’ at any cost. keeping the edwards morsel under wraps is small potatoes. just think what they must have on bo that has gone into permanent storage.

i can dream about what would have happened if they had rallied behind hillary the way they should have if they were even slightly “mature.” clinton envy is a powerful determinate of behavior. old sigmund could have developed a whole theory around it. we would be singing halleluh right now if the msn had ever grown past early adolescence. i’d put them in the pre-pubescent phase, quickly regressing to “where’s my binki?”

Princess - I agree - - it is a “girl thing”. We all have it; we just have to trust it. Edwards ganged up with O on Hillary during the debate after Iowa. Those two were sitting side by side, and labeling her “the establishment” Right..cause Mr. Ed is so cool. Please…phony. HIs endorsement made no sense because his health care was exactly the same as Hillary’s. In fact, Elizabeth Edwards would not campaign for O with her husband for exactly that reason. Mr. Ed has now been 86′d from the convention. Another one under bus. O certainly decided to take a vacation convenient time - - the e-mails; Mr. Ed. And where is O? Away doing grandma duty. Hiding behind grandma’s apron strings.

Rey, that’s what I thought too - the national guard. A few days ago I read an article that the Federal Law Enforcement agency sent O a letter telling him in very strong words, that they did not appreciate him equating their agency to terrorists, and then he comes up with this. Why would he think we need a civilian force. We also have Homeland Security, and like you said, the National Guard.

In the “boys’ club” scenario, we might suspect that all the MSM folk knew about Edwards’ mistress, and that the Democratic primary candidates knew, and if it had gotten out, the Edwards endorsement would not have been as valuable, if at all.

“You don’t live this long in that world to not have radar worthy of a nuclear sub.”

I totally empathize. I spent my career in the boys’ club (defense research) maybe one or two generations before you.

i don’t buy the timeline that edwards is laying out. he’s either lying and didn’t begin the affair until ‘07, which was during the campaign, or very narcissistic to think that he could get away with running for the highest office in the land and not have this come back to haunt him. it was irresponsible and reckless behavior not just for him personally, but for the party. (which right now, i don’t give two hoots about.) and that he throws another campaign staffer under the bus to cover up his affair shows how slimy and disgusting he really is.

i didn’t know that his compound faced a trailer park. at least he has easy access to the honeys that live there. (okay, that was bad. and an insult to the trailer park residents.)

A little red carpet welcome for you sore losers in Denver. LMAO.

DENVER (CBS4) ― CBS4 News has learned if mass arrests happen at the Democratic Convention, those taken into custody will be jailed in a warehouse owned by the City of Denver. Investigator Rick Sallinger discovered the location and managed to get inside for a look.

The newly created lockup is on the northeast side of Denver.

Inside are dozens are metal cages. They are made out of chain link fence material and topped by rolls of barbed wire.

“This is a secured environment,” Capt. Frank Gale of the Denver Sheriff’s Department told CBS4. “We’re concerned about how that’s going to be utilized by people who will be potentially disruptive.”

In past conventions, mass arrests have taken place.

With Denver’s jails already overflowing, new space had to be created and officers trained.

Each of the fenced areas is about 5 yards by 5 yards and there is a lock on the door. A sign on the wall reads “Warning! Electric stun devices used in this facility.”

CBS4 showed its video to leaders of groups that plan to demonstrate during the convention.

“Very bare bones and very reminiscent of a political prisoner camp or a concentration camp,” said Zoe Williams of Code Pink.

Williams was one of those arrested at the Republican Convention in New York in 2004.

“That’s how you treat cattle,” said Adam Jung of the group Tent State University. “You showed the sign where it said stun gun in use and you just change the word gun for bolt and it’s a meat processing plant.”

Gale would not discuss the facility at this time.

“We want to make sure we got our game plan set,” he said, “We want to make sure the entire procedure is laid out all the personnel know what they are supposed to do.”

The plans were to keep this lockup a secret, at least for now.

The American Civil Liberties Union says it will ask the City of Denver how prisoners will get access to food and water, bathrooms, telephones, plus medical care, and if there will be a place to meet with attorneys.

The protesters have already given this place a name: “Gitmo on the Platte.”

Who here luvs Maureen. She is goood.

    Maureen Dowd
    Go to Columnist Page »

While Obama was spending three hours watching “The Dark Knight” five time zones away, and going to a fund-raiser featuring “Aloha attire” and Hawaiian pupus, Hillary was busy planning her convention.

You can almost hear her mind whirring: She’s amazed at how easy it was to snatch Denver away from the Obama saps. Like taking candy from a baby, except Beanpole Guy doesn’t eat candy. In just a couple of weeks, Bill and Hill were able to drag No Drama Obama into a swamp of Clinton drama.

Now they’ve made Barry’s convention all about them — their dissatisfaction and revisionism and barely disguised desire to see him fail. Whatever insincere words of support the Clintons muster, their primal scream gets louder: He can’t win! He can’t close the deal! We told you so!

Hillary’s orchestrating a play within the play in Denver. Just as Hamlet used the device to show that his stepfather murdered his father, Hillary will try to show the Democrats they chose the wrong savior.

Her former aide Howard Wolfson fanned the divisive flames Monday on ABC News, arguing that Hillary would have beaten Obama in Iowa and become the nominee if John Edwards’s affair had come out last year — an assertion contradicted by a University of Iowa survey showing that far more Edwards supporters had Obama as their second choice.

Hillary feels no guilt about encouraging her supporters to mess up Obama’s big moment, thus undermining his odds of beating John McCain and improving her odds of being the nominee in 2012.

She’s obviously relishing Hillaryworld’s plans to have multiple rallies in Denver, to take out TV and print ads and to hold up signs in the hall that read “Denounce Nobama’s Coronation.”

In a video of a closed California fund-raiser on July 31 that surfaced on YouTube, Hillary was clearly receptive to having her name put in nomination and a roll-call vote.

She said she thought it would be good for party unity if her gals felt “that their voices are heard.” But that’s disingenuous. Hillary was the one who raised the roll-call idea at the end of May with Democrats, who were urging her to face the math. She said she wanted it for Chelsea, oblivious to how such a vote would dim Obama’s star turn. Ever since she stepped aside in June, she’s been telling people privately that there might have to be “a catharsis” at the convention, signaling she wants a Clinton crescendo.

Bill continues to howl at the moon — and any reporters in the vicinity — about Obama; he’s starting to make King Lear look like Ryan Seacrest.

The way the Clintons see it, there’s nothing wrong with a couple making plans for their future, is there? That’s the American way and, as their pal Mark Penn pointed out, they have American roots while Obama “is not at his center fundamentally American in his thinking and in his values.”

The Clintons know that a lot of Democrats are muttering that their solipsistic behavior is “disgusting.” But they’re too filled with delicious schadenfreude at the wave of buyer’s remorse that has swept the Democratic Party; many Democrats are questioning whether Obama is fighting back hard enough against McCain, and many are wondering, given his inability to open up a lead in a country fed up with Republicans, if race will be an insurmountable factor.

Some Democrats wish that Obama had told the Clintons to “get in the box” or get lost if they can’t show more loyalty, rather than giving them back-to-back, prime-time speaking gigs at the convention on Tuesday and Wednesday. Al Gore clipped their wings in 2000, triggering their wrath by squeezing both the president and New York Senate candidate into speaking slots the first night and then ushering them out of L.A.

Wednesday will be all Bill. The networks will rerun his churlish comments from Africa about Obama’s readiness to lead and his South Carolina meltdowns. TV will have more interest in a volcanic ex-president than a genteel veep choice.

Obama also allowed Hillary supporters to insert an absurd statement into the platform suggesting that media sexism spurred her loss and that “demeaning portrayals of women … dampen the dreams of our daughters.” This, even though postmortems, including the new raft of campaign memos leaked by Clintonistas to The Atlantic — another move that undercuts Obama — finger Hillary’s horrendous management skills.

Besides the crashing egos and screeching factions working at cross purposes, Joshua Green writes in the magazine, Hillary’s “hesitancy and habit of avoiding hard choices exacted a price that eventually sank her chances at the presidency.”

It would have been better to put this language in the platform: “A woman who wildly mismanages and bankrupts a quarter-of-a-billion-dollar campaign operation, and then blames sexism in society, will dampen the dreams of our daughters.”

Sorry, but we’ve all heard about how it’s been Hillary’s friends who knew about this and leaked it to the press. That skank is on Hillary’s payroll, just like Hillary is on Huma Abedin’s pimp’s payroll.

We’ll never vote for Hillary, in fact, I’d vote for McCain over Hillary any day of the week.

The majority of voters in the US do not want another piece of Clinton scum in the Whitehouse again.

worldnut daily is almost entirely an opinion newspaper, no real reporting, funded by neocon evangelicals looking to “stop oppression of christians” caused by government realizing, no, they can’t give special preference to christianity anymore.

JoAnnCR : try not to be offended; just letting off some steam. It’s not the affair; many people (note I didn’t say just men) don’t always remain faithful. Don’t forget that the majority here on this site voted Kerry/Edwards…it’s just that Senator Edwards endorsed Obama and clearly teamed up with him against Senator Clinton. Otherwise, I really don’t expect these people to be saints, and I don’t care what they do in their private lives. But he did endorse Obama, clearly the least qualified candidate. And for that, many of us are very disappointed.

As for not supporting him when he is down??? I feel sorry for his wife and daughters having to go through this public humiliation about a very private aspect of their life. Senator Edwards can take care of himself. Elizabeth is in a life and death situation. As far as Mrs. Edwards influencing him not to run, would he had listened if he was dead set on it? Also, I would think due to her medical condition and trying to live through that, how much energy would she have had for his political career. How unimportant is your husband becoming president when you are in a battle for your life.

I think the down person is Elizabeth Edwards, so let’s have compassion for her and the Edwards daughters. A lot of times, men and women blame a woman for their husband’s unfaithfulness. Remember MO - “if you can’t run your house, you can’t run the White House?” Not true as you know. The only time you know if you have a successful marriage is when one of you or both of you die. At that point, if you are still together, ya made it.

Elizabeth is nearing the end of her life. We need to keep that in mind I think. And Senator Clinton is right, we need to keep them in our prayers, especially Mrs. Edwards. What can happen to one of us ladies, can happen to any of us.

    Peace

  64. rey said,

    on August 13th, 2008 at 9:58 pm

The AP caption reads: “This registration document, made available on Jan. 24, 2007, by the Fransiskus Assisi school in Jakarta, Indonesia, shows the registration of Barack Obama under the name Barry Soetoro into the Catholic school made by his step-father, Lolo Soetoro. The document lists Barry Soetoro as a Indonesian citizen, born on August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, and shows his Muslim step-father listed the boy’s religion as Islam. (AP Photo/ Tatan Syuflana)”

    What It Means

This AP photo is compelling evidence of the following assertions, which have been set forth on this blog:

    1. Barack Obama had Indonesian citizenship

    2. Barack Obama had the legal name Barry Soetoro

    3. Barack Obama was a Muslim, despite his “fight the smears” claim that he never has been. (see new story that we just posted on this topic).

In addition, it means that Barack Obama apparently lied to the Illinois

Who ever deciphered the Lincoln quote Rocks! Hillary matters to me. Ive known her for 30 years. she is the one. Bill rode her coat tails. Now the boys club in DC and I won’t name names were all stunned by the Clintons political skill, political survival skills, political revival skills. They were also oh so jealous that democratic women recruited her and not the men to lead the democratic party and the nation. I stunned and angered them that she would be more popular than them. Barack and his advisors built their campaign upon not being Hillary or a Clinton. They Framed her as the establishment and drew upon the easily swayed and trained an Army and played the race card and fear buttons oh so well. Running the campaign isn’t the same as running the country. I actually see him as a reflection of W representing an subgroup of our party filled with the portent of incompetence and inexperience. He ain’t black, he ain’t white, he is simply to green.
Hell he didn’t even write a single article when he was the editor of the Harvard Review. His lack of accomplishments is so damning and depressing. He shines as ash in a pile of ashes.

Yes, Roger….O telling his adoring audiences how proof of how he’s run his campaign makes him presidential material makes me sick too. Particularly that past sucessful campaigns have not been a predictor of a successful administration; quite the opposite. There were articles last week that told how his life at Harvard was nothing to brag about. I wouldn’t use those quoted in those articles for a job recommendation. All the losers of past presidential campaigns were all jelous that the country would back Senator Clinton. And even with all their help, Obama just can’t see to close the deal. My heart bleeds.

    FWC2 - here’s an appropriate tune.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gArUEEE1OF8

Jump down the shelters to get away
The boys are cockin’ up their guns
Tell us general, is it party time?
If it is can we all come

Don’t think that we don’t know
Don’t think that we’re not trying
Don’t think we move too slow
    It’s no use after crying
    Saying

    It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake
    It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake

After the laughter as died away
And all the boys have had their fun
No surface noise now, not much to say
They’ve got the bad guys on the run

Don’t try to say you’re sorry
Don’t say he drew his gun
They’ve gone and grabbed old Ronnie
He’s not the only one saying

    It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake
    It’s a mistake, it’s a mistake

Tell us commander, what do you think?
‘Cos we know that you love all that power
Is it on then, are we on the brink?
We wish you’d all throw in the towel

We’ll not fade out too soon
    Not in this finest hour
    Whistle your favourite tune
We’ll send a card and flower
    Saying

Here we go again- t-bone, what is your problem? Why do you continually go on and on and in such a negative and disparaging way about Hillary clinton?
I find a lot of what you had to say about Nobama-drama laughable. Hillary has been the one to turn and support the guy none of us feel actually has won this nomination— certainly, as of yet, he has not. He does NOT have the magic number of delegates required for a “win”. Neither does hillary. But, with things and tides and bambi changing, hillary is the only one of the also-rans to have the ability to beat john mccain in the fall.
When are you going to figure this out?
Oh, and more on the drama that IS obama.. Hillary has not caused any sort of drama as she has bent over backward to do anything and everything (and more) that bams requested or insisted upon. The convention was not his– it is still not his. It is the DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION.. not Obama’s gig.

I liked him when he was running for VP with Kerry but soon I realized this guy is going out and doing things to just pad his resume for his run at the Presidency. Plus when he started to criticize Hillary’s character that was it for me. And yes the media is corrupt and it needs to be reformed. Great post!
