run Dean-N-C…”it’s like that y’all!”

Posted on June 16th, 2008 in Piper in Pucci by hireheels

Well, it seems that the organic PUMA movement has created quite an uproar in the last week with multiple appearances on FOX, MSNBC, TALK RADIO along with numerous print and online articles. And they started 168 hours ago….yikes?!?

The party and the fauxgressive blogosphere is shocked-shocked!-that we aren’t being good little Democrats by falling in line behind the DeaNC’s chosen one. Sorry Howard, Nancy, and Kos. Obama and his cash may make you swoon, but we’re just not that into him. We Just Say No Deal. If you want our votes, then you’ll have to work for them.

In the spirit of Princess’ FABULOUS interview on Cavuto, we say let the courting begin!

You can spare us the flowers and chocolates, here’s what we at Hire Heels.com really want:

#1 Hillary on Top (of the ticket).
(get out of the gutter gals!). Yes, superdelis, you can still make this happen in Denver.who voted for Hillary. You can listen to your conscience, which knows that she is the only bit-,er, one, who can get stuff done. Shorter me: you can do your job and vote for the most qualified candidate at the convention. Failing that…
piper_in_pucci_byline
#2 Allow Hillary to make her case in Denver.
We know that this one might be tough for you Howama, so we’ll give you some pointers. Don’t push Hillary off of the ballot. Don’t try to poach or punish her pledged delegates. Let Hillary put forth her platform, the one that we voted for, at the convention. Let the Democratic process continue as it was intended. Besides, staged conventions are just so tired and boring. It just smacks of old politics.

#3 Treat Hillary and her supporters with respect.
Do not dismiss us as a bunch of bitter, Archie Bunker-type deadenders who are clinging to our candidate out of spite. We’re not. We’re a broad cross-section of men and women who have real concerns about Obama’s ability (or lack thereof) to lead this nation. Address those concerns in a substantive way (you know, without using the words ‘unity’, ‘hope’, or ‘change’) and stop blackmailing us with Roe v.Wade. It’s such a turn off.

#4 Understand that we feel wronged for legitimate reasons. This nomination was not won on the basis of ‘one person, one vote’. It was decided through media manipulation, voter suppression, intimidation, primary/caucus disparities, backroom dealings and an arbitrary application of ‘the rulez’. Don’t order us to ‘get over it’. Acknowledge that there is a problem with the system and fix it.

#5 Adopt Hillary’s Universal Health Care platform, because we think that mandates are hot.So Howama, if you make a concerted effort to reach out to us and do some of these things, who knows, you might get lucky!

But if you continue to stick your heads in the sand and pretend that we’ll succumb to your wiles in the fall, you’ll lose us forever. Remember: you need us more than we need you.

You can call us pumas, you can call us cougars — but hireheels will continue to roar!

    Has anyone heard about this group called the denver group? The are currently trying to aquire legal status but the goal is;
An open convention. Senator Clinton’s name on the ballot, Speeches allowed by supporters of Senator Clinton on
behalf of her candidacy. A roll call vote. No coronation.
    Check it out!!

Just another endorsement because the presumed nominee is in trouble. Follows a pattern we have seen throughout the primary season.

in an interview this morning - i said what everyone out there knows — endorsements are nothing more than job applicants jockeying for position…they mean nothing — but i still love gore ;-)

  10. manolo minx said,

I still like Gore, too. With the outstanding job Princess and the HH/JustSayNoDeal gang have done, all of a sudden we have cred and momentum, both vital in this fight.

As I was pondering this sorry-ass state of affairs while sharpening my little claws recently, the following possibility popped into my dainty, bitter feminist head . Whatever we can do to keep Dean from kicking our gal off the ballot in Denver is a good, good thing. Obama’s reportedly leading McCain in national polls, but only by a few points more than the margin of error. What if his poll numbers drop sharply, for whatever reason, leading up to the convention? If he’s damaged enough going into Denver, there could be a strong case made for a floor fight and enough buyer’s remorse to nominate Hil. Remember, those delegates are under no legal obligation to vote the way they’ve said; they’re under as much pressure to vote their state turnouts as much as to vote as they pledged. Most of all, they want to vote with whoever will be in a position to dole out favors as of 2009. Delegates want power, too, and if they believe strongly that the power has shifted, they’ll shift, too.

I’m not holding my breath waiting for it, but this isn’t exactly your normal presidential campaign. I half expect the unpredictable and downright weird to happen. Taking the next two months to maximize our leverage is the smartest move we can make.

Yay Piper! Good job on laying out these points. I especially like #1. Liked your smackdowns of the Obot in the last thread too. It’s rather amusing watching them freak out as their false bravado waivers and gets shakier by the day as it dawns on them that *things* aren’t exactly going to plan. They sure are having to work it furiously for having it so wrapped up. And what makes them think anything will end in November? I for one won’t ever let them forget what they’ve done or let them live it down. For decades.

Waving at Sista, hope you are feeling better and healing up fast. It was great meeting you in Indianapolis and I wish I could have made it back once I cruised north to try to catch another event. If I can make it to Denver we’ll get those cocktails in yet.

    DLC | Press Release | March 10, 2008
DLC Announces Chicago Site of 2008 National Conversation

    ————————————————————————
/*Note:* Anyone wishing to attend the DLC’s 2008 National Conversation
should contact the DLC at (202) 546-0007./
    ————————————————————————

    *FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE*

WASHINGTON — At a press conference today the Democratic Leadership
Council (DLC) announced that Chicago, Ill. will be the site of its 12th
annual National Conversation to be held June 28-30, 2008.

DLC Founder and CEO Al From was joined at today’s press conference by
Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, who will serve as honorary chair of the
event, as well as U.S. Rep. and House Democratic Caucus Chair Rahm
    Emanuel (D-Ill.-5).

With the leadership of Mayor Daley and DLC Chair Harold Ford, Jr., this
year’s National Conversation will be a forum to discuss and debate the
best ideas for tackling America’s greatest challenges.

From noted the unique opportunity that Democrats have this year to lead
the nation with new ideas. “2008 presents Democrats with an incredible
opportunity: the chance to build an enduring political and governing
majority with control of both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue and a majority
of statehouses and mayoralties across the country,” said From. “To take
full advantage of that opportunity, we will need to offer bold and
innovative ideas for tackling the big challenges facing our nation and
to govern effectively once in office. That will be the focus of this
year’s National Conversation in Chicago. Elected Democrats from all
levels of government will compare notes about ideas that work and how to
    put them into action.”

Chicago’s own Mayor Richard Daley spoke about the exchange of ideas
which the Conversation will bring to the city. “For 12 years, the
Democratic Leadership Council has been providing public officials,
national leaders and interested citizens with innovative and
straightforward ideas for moving our nation forward. I’m proud and happy
that the DLC will be bringing its annual conference to our city later
this summer,” Daley said. “I look forward to participating in that
conference and offering some of the ideas and programs we have pursued
that might help other urban areas. I know that other members of our
community — from business, labor and academia — will be eager to
    participate, as well.”

Rep. Emanuel added, “As we continue to work for change in Washington, we
are reminded that good policy makes good politics. The hundreds of
national, state and local leaders who will attend this year’s DLC
National Conversation in Chicago will be sharing the lessons they’ve
learned from their successes in solving some of the greatest challenges
    that face our nation.”

Chicago was chosen to host the 2008 DLC National Conversation because of
its unique position on the national political stage. It is the largest
city in the Midwest — a region that may well serve as the battleground
that chooses the next president. Both Democratic presidential candidates
have roots in Chicago: Senator Barack Obama represents Illinois in the
Senate; Senator Hillary Clinton was born and raised in the city’s
suburbs. Today, Chicago faces a microcosm of the challenges which
national leaders will need to tackle in the months and years to come:
keeping Americans safe; ensuring we can compete and win in the global
    economy; creating a hybrid economy; promoting families and values;
holding government accountable; and ending poverty for all who work.

The National Conversation is the DLC’s premier annual conference,
bringing together hundreds of elected officials from across the country
to compare notes, exchange ideas and discuss innovative governing
strategies. Last year, the DLC hosted more than 300 elected officials in
Nashville, Tenn., and expects hundreds to join them this summer in the
    Windy City.

/The Democratic Leadership Council seeks to promote debate within the
Democratic Party and the public at large about national and
international policy and political issues. For additional information,
web users may access the Democratic Leadership Council online at
http://www.dlc.org , or contact the DLC’s press office at
    (202) 546-0007 or at press@dlc.org ./

Senator Hillary Clinton is a member the Democratic Leadership Council. This conference on June 28-30, 2008; is a great opportunity for Senator Clinton supporters to show their support by showing up wearing their Hillary gear and Hillary signs. This show of support sends a message we will not fall in line; but, this must be a dignified show of support. DO NOT BEHAVE IN A WAY THAT WILL HURT SENATOR CLINTON’S CHANCES TO GET VOTES IN DENVER, DO NOT EMBARRESS OUR CANDIDATE HILLARY.

Also sending this Council email messages and letters of protest as to the illegal actions and disenfranchising voters of the DNC and RBC may get the attention of party leaders who still support Senator Clinton.

fuzzy’s quick morning note….Mr obama is still stuck ain the polls at 44% to 42% a small bump may be achieved after the august convention but doubtful that it will have much traction. that assumes he is the nominee and not the Veep at the bottom of the ticket.

As we get closer to the magic day in november the republican cash machine will grind out more commercials that will cast doubt on Sen obamas experience, ability to get change and show hope was never brought to the south side of chicago. also corruption will be exposed and the dnc reduced to a mere shadow of itself will no longer ba an asset to senator obama.

america and the 18 million hillacrats are just looking for an excuse or doubt to run screaming away from sen obama know the rnc will deliver that in the last few weeks in november.

am really consentrating on the increas in americans who say experience is the most imp factor in selecting the candidate- if theat number rises I believe it points to a disconnect in the polling-people saying they support obama who site experience as important may be saying they support obama because thay do not want the pollster to think they are racist….I believe obamas support is “soft”.

Piper and Sista, ab-so-lute-ly!!! Our gal won’t get a damn cent from the DNC (Dean Nasty Corps). Helping her retire her debt isn’t just a nice thing to do, but helps her demonstrate her power. The closer to debt-retired we can get her before the debacle in Denver, the more powerful she is. The more powerful she is, the harder it will be for Howie to shove her off the delegate ballot on the convention floor. I’m still half-convinced that Obama may make a major gaffe on the campaign trail or respond badly to some as-yet-unknown world crisis…the result being a massive drop in his favorables and the possibility that the delegates and supes may fervently wish for another alternative.

Even if he plays the time between now and the D-in-D flawlessly, money brings power. IPeople who bring money and votes to the game are players; those who don’t, aren’t. If the DNC’s donations drop, as we expect they will, and Hil’s continue strong, she’ll be the nicest-looking 800-pound gorilla they’ve ever met.

I just read the Larry Sinclair press release. If you have not read it yet, you are going to want to.

fbg–good morning. the polls are everywhere right now indeed–abc news says o got no bounce, while nbc says he did. i agree with akron upthread: the gop won’t go after o with full force until after the convention. then we’ll see his unfavorables rise and his numbers drop.

misty–i personally don’t put much stock into the larry sinclair stuff. i think he’s an opportunist.

omg! lambert from corrente is on this thread. cool! i’m a huge fan of him and vastleft, and i lurk over there daily.

piper has a point - there are a zillion polls and basically right now you can find just about anything you want. I honestly believe they are mostly irrelevant at this point. As Bill Clinton said at a cocktail party I had the privilege to attend with him last year, there are the die-hards on either extreme and (what was) the 5% in the middle - and they decide… NOW that 5% is us and chances are it has grown to a larger number. Look at the 44 to 43 types numbers… you get 87% … the question is what will the 13% do and that is where we can “win” … just mho.

Yes indeed akron, women will have an impact on this election. Of course the third page of the reuters’ article gets a tad dicer. as Tim Wise basically calls us racists…
“Voting against Senator Obama is not about gender solidarity. It is an act of white racial bonding,” Wise wrote in an open letter to progressive female Clinton supporters.

Sista thinks that Mr. Wise needs to receive a few letters of his own… from these so-called white females who are bonding… i’d like to “bond” his tongue to the frig with a dollop of crazy glue…

letters to mr. wise are partly why I posted it. Thought maybe he should be notified that his last name doesn’t always apply ….
… and the fact that it was on Reuters.

hey gals & guys! i just got a fundraising letter from oblahma, and my name is spelled wrong. i’m looking for creative ways to return it to sender. any suggestions? maybe i can send him half a check since he would only allow half of my vote to count…”

piper, I too received a fundraising letter from Sen. Hopeandchange, and am using the postage-paid envelope enclosed to send them a check mock-up for zero and .005/100 dollars (does not contain any information about me). For the “account number” at the bottom of the check, I used the years since I started voting that Democrats have lost the presidency, with 2008 tacked on the end.

I hope others will use their creativity to send these folks a message at their expense, even if it is only a piece of paper with “NO, I WON’T” written on it.

At the same time, I continue to make small donations to Senator Clinton as I can afford it.

The gloves are off and the claws are out. I just read our coalition is up to 4.5 million members and growing, I love it.
Obama, you don’t stand a chance in November. You might want to take your ball and go home, now, and save what face you have left. Hillary Clinton or John Mccain as our next POTUS…. But NEVER obama.

    folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! unity NH !!!!!!!!!!!!
    okay here are the details:
unity nh, unity elementary school, 6/27/08, 12:00
unity is right off of i91 which makes it a reasonable trip from springfield ma, boston ma, hartford ct, albany ny, and of course parts of nh and vt. you can map quest it and simply put in unity elementary school in place of “business” unity is a town of only 1,700 so i doubt that there will be a crowd of 10,000. a couple hundred puma’s would make the news and the place will be crawling with national media because this the first appearance of hillary and obama together. if only handful of us show up it will be dismissed, no doubt, as those disgruntled people, but if a few hundred show up……….
so who’s up for this? bring a pair of flip flops.
