Hillary’s Prerogative is hers - yours is yours

Posted on June 7th, 2008 in Manolo Minx by hireheels

Now that we’ve had a few days to recover from our devastation, I think it’s time for a little cold, calculating thinking among those of us who hang out at the HireHeels Boutique and our sisters across the nation. Consider this:

1.) Politics is about the aquisition and use of power: The candidates we admire use power for the good of us all–to protect us from enemies foreign and domestic, to build an economy that lets us all earn our way to fiscal health and dignity, to help those who can’t help themselves. But the game of politics is about getting and using power. Those who fail to recognize that lose both power and elections. No power in the game, no power to help the people you want to help.
manolominx_byline
2.) Democrats need us to win in November: That makes us powerful. Obama and his true believers may be dissing us right now, but like it or not, they won’t win in November without us - PERIOD!

Keeping in mind those two premises, my question to all of us is: What do we really want? And what does Hillary want? (Besides a month at canyon ranch.)

We can’t read Hillary’s mind, but we can try to figure out our own. It’s not easy, with so much good, justified (misogynistic) reason to be angry. But in my exprience, this is exactly the time for us to pause and decide exactly what we want to get in exchange for our power. Talk about every possible action, even the ones that make us retch like the times we had too many Cosmos on empty stomachs. Play devil’s advocate with ourselves, to make sure we have examined every dark little corner of our strategy. (Something that Mark Penn SHOULD have done for the gadzillions he was earning…but I digress.) Do we want to see Hillary nominated for POTUS? VPOTUS? The promise of a cabinet post, seat on the Supreme Court? Or do we play hard-hard-hardball on Hillary’s agenda to get it adopted?

Just think about Denver (and the potential of our Million Woman March). If we’re organized and all singing that same 70’s “I Am Woman” tune, how frightening would that be to the DNC elders who were so quick to diss us. A bunch of brightly-dressed, focused, pissed-off women who have learned how to use their power? My OPI-polished toes are tingling at the very thought!

The Minx agrees that Hillary should go ahead and “suspend” her campaign right now. Once she’s no longer the target of all that media misogyny and hostility, why, Mr. Wonderful can have the whole glaring spotlight to himself.

Perhaps the Precious Pied Piper of droonlin’ dems might not do so well without Hillary deflecting the fire. Perhaps she’ll be bathed in angelic light as the convention draws near, while she still has all her unreleased delegates in her purse. Perhaps Precious
will implode. Whatever happens, the Dems still need what Hillary and her supporters (especially the gals) bring to the game. We’d better know exactly what to ask for when they come a’crawlin’ like a cheating spouse trying to settle the divorce before the mistress dumps him. Whichever way YOU go - make sure you answer: What do you want for your power?

Hi HireHeels gals and guys: What’s your prerogative?

You know where Princess and Sista stand on voting (OR NOT) for Senator Obama. We are a force of tens of thousands, probably more like millions, who will choose not to just FALL IN LINE and do what despicable Dean wants us to!!! HireHeels wants to know: What do you think? What do you want?

Go ahead and DISH, DIG UP DIRT, STRATEGIZE, COMMISERATE or VENT in this open thread.

Don’t we need to start posting dates and hotel info in Denver and surrounding areas? Since there’s a convention going on- we have to be the savvy shoppers that we all are and book now!
Please find out and post different hotels and rates for us–maybe they will even give us group discounts! LOL

I’ve been listening to the party leaders and Dems and I keep wondering what they been smokin’! They don’t get we women are no longer willing to submit to the will of party bosses for the
sake of unity! Back room deals and good ol’ boys are history, and we need to keep the pressure on the super stupid delegates and do all we can to get this turned around. We need to fight all the way to Denver and beyond. One of the media channels just said Clinton was running late because she was afraid to come to this speech and “end her campaign.”

DONT CONCEDE RUN AS “INDENDENT” WE WILL SUPPORT YOU IN THE FALL

I am upset and very disappointed that Hillary didn’t make it.
It’s not surprising after the way the CCN and all of them it
was obvious that Obama was in and Hillary was out. It was shameful how they treated her in

the media. I ask that you all go to the following website and read in the blog on the top

left hand side, what Obama is really about: You can also
sign up to be part of the Movement.

    http://writehillaryin.com/

I don’t want Hillary to concede. I do not trust Obama and what his personal agenda may be

as he is accepting money from Muslims here in the US and overseas.

If we do not vote at all, we are giving away our vote. This is what the powers that be

want. People who voted for Hillary
won’t vote for Obama and, of course, what is left is McCain which is surely more of Bush.

We are in between a rock and hard place.

We need to encourage Hillary still not to give up, register with all 45 states that allow

“Indendent Write ins” and we will all vote for her in the Fall. I have already changed my

    party from “Democrat” to “Independent”.

We need to organize and they can’t afford to have 18 million people not vote. We have the power now so all we need to do is change your party to “Independent” and write in Hillary and we the people would have made history.

just got this back from a Texas dem:

    Hi Angie,

I read your mail to Ann about the “million Woman” March and I and my sisters and friends are very interested and would need more information on that. Where can I go to sign up? I am one of Hillary’s passionate supporters and feel very very paralyzed right now words cannot even begin to express it. I got your email for the Hillary Houston Area network. I just wanted to include this email that I wrote to them to express how I feel. I believe there are lot of us who feel that way. I wish we can pull this “Million Woman” and send a powerful message that we would not be ignored.

    Waiting to here from you.

We need to send a very STRONG MESSAGE that we will not be fooled or taken for GRANTED. Folks, this is not just about Hillary, it’s about FUTURE WOMEN running for public office. If they can treat Hillary like this what make us think that another woman won’t be treated the same way. Having seen what these people have done to Hillary, I don’t see another woman putting herself through this until we all stand up and say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We DO MATTER! 18 MILLION OF US DO MATTER!

WE COUNT When Every vote Counts Our United Nationalism Truimphs!!!! I was so proud of Hillary today as she stood up there and bravely spoke to all of us after everything she has gone thru during this Primary. I have followed the Clintons for 17 years and always knew Hillary would run for President. I am not giving up on her. She suspended her campaign and supported BO and pleased the DNC. I will never vote for BO not matter what. We just have to sit and wait patiently for the next 10 weeks and see what happens. There is one thing for sure …. this Hillary supporter will vote Republican for the first time in her life with pleasure. No BO, No VP for Hillary no matter what.

Take heed; do not support Obama under any circumstance. Here is my brief report from last night’s Texas Democratic Convention:

First the person who was in charge at the podium and introduced the speakers all Friday night was none other than Texas state Senator Kirk Watson.
Remember “Hardball” Way Too Hard for Obama Supporter Kirk Watson:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jj4VK9wVAi0stand

It was almost more than I could stand. But the true wickedness got underway later.

I was a Delegate to the Texas Democratic Convention in Austin TX. What a sham and travesty. In our Senate District (SD) caucus, just as in the local caucuses, it was mayhem and chaos. The Obama forces quickly stole the floor from those who have experience in “Robert’s Rules of Order “and in the Rules of the Democratic Party. As soon as the Obama leader of the SD caucus took over, he looked around with a blank face and had to ask those around him what to do. There were no microphones and lots of shouting. At 1:30am an announcement was made that the parking garage was closing. I had been at the convention since 7:30am. I was waiting to be nominated as a Delegate to the National Convention; but had to leave to move my car. When I returned, I was told that since I was not present, when the nominations were made, I could not be considered. So it went all night, as life long Democrats left due to lack of order, water, and sleep. In the wee small hours of the morning, amidst utter chaos, Obama supporters took over the Texas Democratic Convention just as they stole the caucuses around the country. It is truly a sad day for the Democratic Party and for America. All law and rule of order seems to be under attack.

Senator Hillary Clinton should never join forces with Obama.
I believe we should have a million women march in Denver to protest and back Hillary any way we can. But she must distance herself from any direct association with Mr. “Oh”.

I will continue to support Hillary Clinton - somehow, but as I told the BBC and The Guardian over the last few days, I simply cannot vote for a man I deem ill-equipped to be Commander In Chief. This is the only time I respectfully disagree with Senator Clinton.

I think the DNC underestimated the pent-up rage on the part of female supporters. We’re soooo tired of being petted on the heads and told to be good little girls and follow orders.

I’m still scared to death of St. John and his potential appointments to the Supremes, but I am also sick to death of the deification of Barack Obama…and increasingly terrified, too. Anytime you start painting a halo around a political leader, it’s trouble–people start acting as though they have a divine mandate to carry out what they think dear leader’s agenda is, and any dear leader who’s getting deified like that is in trouble of believing his own press. Beware any political movement that turns its figurehead into a messiah. Nothing good ever comes of it.

Dave–you are absolutely right. Keep the message simple. Hillary’s coalition is broad and inclusive, bringing men and women of all races/ethnicities together around issues of the economy, labor, health care, education, voting rights, etc.

This said, we’ve got to admit, the mistreatment of HRC by the Dem Party and the media was in a very big way misogynist and sexist. The gender bias needs to be addressed in a serious way. I hope like-minded men will support us in confronting and doing away with this type of prejudice and discrimination forever.

Nevertheless, your are right, HRC’s populist coalition also needs to stay focused on finding practical solutions to the serious problems that both men and women face today. I don’t think any of these agendas are mutually exclusive!

great post minx, and you’ve got a point. if obama were to adopt hillary’s healthcare plan (and why not, he’s adopted everything else from her) i might consider voting for him. but that’s a big if because i do not want to reward the thuggery of the obama campaign. delegate stealing, voter supression, and intimidation through strong-arm tactics are not a new type of politics. there will be a day of when his followers realize that he’s not ‘teh messiah’, but just another pol.

we must stay organized and not let the party, the media, or the blogosphere keep us down. if we’re strong, we can take control back from the moveon/dailykos/huffpo wing of the party.

so let’s regroup, focus, and enjoy watching obama turn himself into a pretzel in trying to woo us.

On another note: A write-in campaign isn’t to good of a idea. I mean, some states don’t allow it. The states that do, the candidate must file the paper work if they don’t the vote doesn’t count and may even go to Obama (not sure of that).

If Hillary filed the paper work (I doubt she will) I would be for it and support it.

One of the most important things we can do for hillary is to help retire her debt. it would send a big message to the dnc and give her the independence she needs. if you have not maxed out your contribution any monies donated to her would go to do that and not go to the dnc or obama.

FYI HIREHEELS: A Letter from Rosa Park’s granddaughter Carole Parks of Chicago, IL

My main regret is that Hillary probably felt compelled to congratulate Barack on the victory he has won, as opposed to the honor he was granted. Other than that, despite the circumstances, I felt buoyed by the speech. I was glad she reminded people of the number and wide diversity of her supporters, the issues she’ll continue fighting for, the precedents to these historical campaigns, the bias she ran into, and that of the last 10 presidential elections Bill won two of the three Democratic victories. Most of all, I was glad she left the door open.

We made tremendous progress during the under a Democratic president, with a flourishing economy and our leadership for peace and security respected around the world. Just think how much more progress we could have made over the past 40 years if we’d had a Democratic president. Think about the lost opportunities of these past seven years on the environment and the economy, on health care and civil rights, on education, foreign policy and the Supreme Court.

Hillary compared the party to a family unified around shared ideals, values and destination which would mean I must identify with a leadership who facilitate favoritism, foul play and public savaging of its own members. Who reward Republicanesque chicanery and marketing over democratic principles and substance. Who would rather protect their own territory than elect a president who could help us all.

Hillary also urged us not to dwell on what might have been which is exactly what we must do in the person of Howard Dean. The man is incompetent, a saboteur or both. Retaining him spits in the face of over half those who voted in the primaries. It erodes confidence the DNC will reflect our standards. It conveys contempt for us on the part of the candidate we are called upon to support. It suggests winning the White House is not a DNC priority.

Now, when I started this race, I intended to win back the White House and make sure we have a president who puts our country back on the path to peace, prosperity and progress. We cannot let this moment slip away. We have come too far and accomplished too much. This election is a turning-point election. And it is critical that we all understand what our choice really is. Will we go forward together, or will we stall and slip backwards?

Unity is a two-way street. So far, I have seen nothing to indicate the Hillary camp counts any more than it has all along. Replacing Dean with someone amenable to Hillary would be a start. Perhaps I’ll see other evidence at the convention. Until then I cannot in good conscience get in the spirit Hillary urged. Others have made it too hollow. She will be blamed for that anyway, no matter what she does, so I might as well remain faithful to the vision that has sustained me so far: Hillary Clinton in the White House.

Hi everyone. I have to say one thing. Hillary had to say in her speech what she did. She is in the Democratic Party. We do not have to. I will never vote for Obama as he is to evil for our country. Mccain is the lessor of the two even though i do not like Mccain i will cross over if need be. I am doing this for my daughter and my granddaughter not just myself. I am doing this for our husbands who are standing beside us and our sons who are there for us too. I am doing this for everyone who wants to have our voices heard and not to be made to vote for someone the Democratic Party picked for us like Mr. Obama. This race was rigged from day one. I feel that the Democratic Party and Howard Dean,Pelosi and Reid should be squashed and made to answer for thier unlawful wrong deeds. Sorry but i just came from Pumapac and we are strong. This is a refreshing site! Thank you!
I wrote to Hillary months ago and told her that it would be the Women that would put her in the White House. I still believe that, and I am sure I wasn’t the only one to tell her that.
I do not want this incredible journey to turn into a fractured fairy tale. I am “in it to win it” with Hillary. I will be one of those millions in Denver helping to carry Hillary to Victory.

Yes, to march. Organize and report as often as possible. I am in FL. This is a “hot” state after what the DNC did to us. Hillary did what she had to do. Has anyone ever seen the movie “Little Big Man” with Dustin Hoffman as Little Big Man? There’s a scene when Little Big Man and his friend who is a traveling medicine man get caught for selling medicine that doesn’t cure all. It’s actually just liquor in a bottle. The town catches up to him and tars and feathers both of them, but the traveling medicine man doesn’t ever give up!! The town has them tied to a wagon, tarred and feathered, and Little Big Man say, “we are beat, you have to give up, and the Medicine Man says, “I am not beat, I’m tarred and feathered that’s all.” And that medicine man just keeps on going. That’s where we are now..we aren’t beat, we are just tarred and feathered. Stay together, stay strong, and on our way to Denver!!

    Justzisguy,

every blog that has a particular candidate at heart will have at least a little flavor of “my guy or the highway. ” However, I have yet to see anybody paint Hillary’s picture with a halo and other traditional religious imagery. Or write columns portraying him as a “lightworker,” divinely ordained to make humanity vibrate at a higher level. Or come away from events with a religious fervor without knowing diddly about policy. These are things I’ve witnessed among Obama supporters that I haven’t witnessed among Hillary supporters. (Not like it never happens among ours, I’m sure, but I haven’t seen a cottage industry of it pop up like I have in the Obama camp.)

As for the McCain thing, I understand the pent-up anger of the people here who say they’ll vote for him before Obama. I’m not sure I would do the same, given how scared shitless I am of that phony. (Alas, phonies abound!) But before I commit to either course of action, I’m going to do a little cold calculation–y’know, kinda like I said in the original post? Some of that calculation will be a look at the likely make-up of the Senate Judiciary Committee post-November, since that’s the committee that reviews appointments to federal courts (including the Supremes). For example, if I think they’ll discover their testicular fortitude and slam the brakes on any nominee who isn’t 100% on board with the Constitution and precedent, I might be more open to not voting Obama. If I think the committee will be gutless, well, then, my decision might be different.

But that’s how I tend to approach this stuff. I’m sharing the process here so that anybody who finds that process useful can use it, and to make sure that we’ve had every discussion we need to have among ourselves to make the best decision to maximize our power.

    In the 90’s there was a Republican candidate for governor of Texas. He was Clayon Williams, and he lost because he made a comment about rape;
he said rape was like the weather–if it’s inevitable, lie back and enjoy it.
This is what the Democratic Party has done to Hillary, and, by extension, to us.
I’m not up for laying back, and enjoying being screwed.

In CNN today (finger down throat):

Grumbling Clinton supporters make Democrats nervous”

“A newly released CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll found that if Obama does not select Clinton as his running mate, 22 percent of her supporters would stay home this fall — and another 17 percent would vote for McCain…

…Obama advisers say they think the passion of the primary season will soon fade, and the party will unite around the senator from Illinois. But they’ve moved quickly to cement party unity: Last week, a thank you message — and a plea for visitors to “show your support” for Clinton — appeared on Obama’s Web site.”

Actually they removed most of the messages to Hillary when probamaniacs spewed hate rather than thanking her.

Soooo.. at least we make them nervous. But see? A-rod is counting on our passion “to fade”. He thinks he’ll convince us to fall in line like good lil’ girl sheep. Hopefully there are a lot of Annie Oakley’s out there stickin’ to their guns.

    Not party idealism.
Not “my candidate, right or wrong”.
My precious isn’t voting based on someone’s gender, but whether or not they are more or less likely to destroy the constitution.
McCain is likely to destroy it further.
I will support whomever prevents that from happening.

What Williams said was despicable, but so is comparing getting cheated by your party to being raped.

Minx: “These are things I’ve witnessed among Obama supporters that I haven’t witnessed among Hillary supporters.”

And yet, here you have, in the very comments to your post, your supporters saying that dissenting opinions aren’t welcome here, and that they’re willing to vote McCain, who will be another Bushista, in order to tell the Democratic Party just what they think of it - doesn’t that sound like a child who smashes a toy, rather than share it?

About retiring the debt, please send e-mail blasts to all of your members and ask them to e-mail blasts to their friends and families who voted for HRC to contribute $5 to http://www.hillaryclinton.com. There were 18 million of us voted for HRC. If half of the voters contributed $5 each, HRC campaign would have raised $45MM and that should send a clear message to BHO and the DNC that we mean business and that HRC doesn’t need BHO’s money to help her retire the debt. Just ask everyone to donate $5….that’s it!

18 million hands - send them to the dnc!

    1. trace your hands on an 8×11 sheet of paper. make it colorful to grab attention.
    2. write your name and city/state in the center of your hands and the words “i am one of 18 million.”
    3. above the hands, write: “these hands are on the front lines of democracy and pledge - i will not vote for obama.”
    4. below the hands, write a line or two about what you want/ your reasons you won;t vote for bo, why you are upset with the dnc, or whatever stirs your soul. we suggest you keep it fairly brief for maximum impact.
    5. put it in an envelope and send it off to the dnc.
    democratic national committee
    430 s. capitol st. se
    washington, dc 20003
    6. pass it on!!! post this call to arms wherever you can! let’s bombard the dnc with the hands of the voters they dismissed, ignored, disenfranchised and belittled. and remember the old saying - “many hands make light work.”

special note if you live in florida: make it just half a hand! let them know you’d like to be a whole person again.

And I suggest adding some nail polish - I’m using a sassy pomegranate shade…

Sista - keep on getting better, and thanks for your response.

I get that you feel your rights were stripped. Until recently, I didn’t know it was a legislative issue on the FL primary, and a republican one at that.

And that sucks the big one.

I get that most of you feel HRC has more experience than BHO - and I understand WHY, based on Senate time and votes.

What I don’t like is conflation of all other time in non-elected positions as experience in government. It’s NOT all the same, nor is it all equivalent.

What I don’t like is candidates who lie about wartime, or military related, experience, either their own (ducking sniper fire in Tuzla?), or that of their opponents (Swiftboat?)

What I don’t like is candidates who vote in favor of torture; who have been repeatedly verbally abusive to women; who have ditched the wife who stuck by them, in favor of a richer, younger one.

What I don’t like is a candidate saying they won’t “stand by their man”, yet turn around and do so; a candidate who, not so secretly, but without any attention from the MSM, have aligned themselves with groups who think freedom of religion means only for evangelical Christians; who treat the military like the hired help at best, and dog crap on the shoes at worst.

What I don’t like is someone who is demeaning to professionals, and thinks they can get away with it, because that’s just their manner of speaking (and I DO agree - it’s proof that sexism has more approval than racism); who won’t look into how to take care of the health care issue, or won’t even say “I’ll think about it”; who tacitly approve of disenfranchisement of a large part of their party.

I think McCain is the most dangerous of the three candidates right now, and anything that splits the party vote, while sending a needed message, also gives us at least four more years of Bush style NeoCon pseudofacism.

In 1992 I was asked why I voted for Clinton: “because I have too many friends with too few white blood cells to allow the Republicans to maintain the Executive.”

Why will I vote for a Democratic candidate, no matter what, this year: because I value my freedom and my civil liberties too much to allow even ONE MORE DAY of a Republican President.

  68. justzisguy said,

“they’re willing to vote McCain, who will be another Bushista, in order to tell the Democratic Party just what they think of it - doesn’t that sound like a child who smashes a toy, rather than share it?”

I thought about it, and I get that this is a very poor analogy.

Someone on you own team cheated, and you didn’t get to be team captain because of their cheating; now you’re willing to throw the game to spite the person who got ahead because of cheating.

But this isn’t a game - and I know you know that.

This is our very freedom at stake - and comparing Obama to Hitler shows just how much you DO deify HRC - because you demonize BHO.

    You Godwined yourself, Diamond Tiger.

BHO didn’t institute a war of agression resulting in the annihilation of millions of people.

For Gods’ sake - I know you’re all very heated, and you have every reason to be; but comparisons to rape and Hitler are intellectual laziness at best, and demeaning to those who have had to deal with either, at worst.

I’ve seen the results of genocide first hand - have you?

Senator McCain is a war hero as you know. Held captive as a POW, he endured solitary confinement, was beaten and strung up from both arms. Along with the other Amercian prisoners, he was beaten daily. After 5 years, the enemy came to him and told him he could go home. He responded, “not without my friends.” This my friend, is a man worth voting for.

On Saturday, prior to Senator Clinton’s speech, CSpan-2 was taking calls. A volunteer from the Clinton campaign got through and was on air. She said that she would not vote Obama because of the attacks by Obama supporters in her district, and the vicious tactics used by Axelrod and the other man, Plough, (not sure how his name is spelled). All the adoration and praise Obama has received by the media, regarding his above the board running of his campaign is mere nothing. That little stunt which was pulled in Indianna, holding back the election results all that time, was directly from the playbook of Chicago mob 1930’s politics from where Obama comes.

This is a man, who, after having endured torture, voted to _allow_ the president of the USA to decide what torture is.

That is _not_ a man worth voting for.

Mccain is no feminist’s friend - have you seen how he treated his first wife when he came back from being a “war hero”?
Have you seen how he treats his current wife?

    War hero?
    So what?

His actions during viet nam excuse his reprehensible conduct during the keating five?

they excuse an atrocious record of voting to give the executive more powers that allow it to ignore the constitution, and bring us closer and closer to a police state?

They excuse saying he thinks we should be in Iraq for 100 years?

They excuse him not knowing the difference between Shi’ite and Sunni?

They excuse him having a “senior moment” and confusing Iraq and Iran, even though the president is supposed to understand whom we are fighting?

They excuse being a two faced liar?

    No!
Don’t trot out the “war hero” horse - it’s dead, and been beaten too much - one man’s courage over thirty years ago do not give him a free ride now - talk about deification!

I haven’t seen genocide, nor did I say I had - I have seen, and I quote myself “the results of genocide” - Srebrenica, Glogova, Bratunac, and four or five mass grave sites in Zenica province.

superdelegates - are bias towards Hillary from the start.
    2. The established Washingtonians are anti Clintons, so they decided to vote for Obama who has only ONE thing on his resume - Great speaker.
    3. Obama is a radical
    4. The media - especially MSNBC reported from the campaigns with bias, disrespectful, disgusting point of vews - against Hillary.

Lip service regarding sexist comments, but he is charging that to the commentaries on that show rather than confronting them right then and there - - translation lip service. “Hmmm, now we know why the RBC did what the did. She had over 100 delegates from Florida and 73 from Michigan. If he got zero from Michigan and both states had been able to seat with full strength, she could have added over 86 delegates and he would have lost 59. Hmm, that brings her total to 1725 and Obama’s to 1707. Day-um! I wouldn’t concede either.”

Sooo…what does this say? Not only did Senator Clinton win the popular, but she also won the delegates from FL and MI had RBC overturned every rule pertaining to MI and FL.

    http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/06/05/a-spreading-stain-links-from-around-hillary-land/

and everyone needs to read about how the DNC violated its sunshine laws: http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/06/06/the-rbc-violation-of-dnc-sunshine-rules/

This information MUST be circulated across the internet, sent to super delegates, sent to the DNC, and to the McCain campaign. Let them make this a talking point against Obama as well.

The fraud of the DNC must not be allowed to stand, and we must not allow the illegitimate presumptive nominee to be shoved down our throats!

Flowerchild2: I’m no more a paid employee of obama than you are of Hillary. But you’re going to continue to think so, with _zero_ evidence to back up your big mouth.

jaym - ad hominem attack much? oh, wait, you probably don’t know what that is, let me spell it out - instead answering the questions posed to you, you attack the person asking the questions.

manolo minx has stayed out of your “mccainmccainmccainmccain” shouts, and, would likely actually answer some of these question … she’s got more political acumen in her big toe than you screechers combined.

I’m not an obamanite - I’m a libertarian who knows the libertarian party _can’t- win.
Understand this: despite my libertarian leanings, I do believe that the Republicans (and therefore McCain) must lose this election. Not only that, but they have to lose it big enough so that not even Diebold can make a difference. We have got to get rid of the GOP pork trough, we have got to get rid of the theocrats in the executive and judicial branches, we have got to get out of Iraq, and we have got to convince the National Republican Party that economic liberty is just as important to voters as their other civil rights. This won’t happen with a “maverick” candidate who is as far out-of-touch with the private sector as McCain is.

we must end the nastiness, and the only way to do that is to dispose of the poisonous ad hominem that Roger Ailes and Karl Rove have made the Republican counter-point to everything.

But the third rail of this election, the one topic that no major candidate will even bring up, is that the Social Security “Trust Fund” will start being tapped in 2011. Know what’s in the Social Security “Trust Fund”? T-bills. The Trust Fund will be paid out of general revenue before the next president’s first term is over.

And that may just boost the interest on the national debt to be the _largest_single_item in the Federal budget.

  112. on June 12th, 2008 at 10:00 am

This is what I am talking about….

    Dear Clinton Dem,

As you probably know, Hillary still has her delegates and she will be taking them to the convention. Hillary has suspended her campaign, but she has not conceded. We realize that the DNC appears to be pushing Obama as their nominee, but know this — we are still “in it to win it”.

The role of the superdelegates is to use their independent judgment to select the candidate that has the greatest chance of winning in the fall and will make the best commander-in-chief. The owe us a duty to consider the will of the people in consideration.

Clinton Democrats are a lot like Hillary. We are strong minded, hardworking, caring and forthright people that believe in the the basic equality of all human beings — including women. We have principals and values that are core to the American way — and we believe that democracy is embodied by the phrase “one person, one vote”.

Hillary has fought her whole life for civil rights and has always been a voice for the voiceless. The biggest shame of this primary season is that too few have stood up for her.

Do not stop fighting. Do not give up on her, because she hasn’t given up on us. Do whatever little thing you can each day between now and the convention to show the country that you “have her back”.

    Pam Hamilton
    Clinton Democrats

As an older woman, I didn’t vote for Hillary because she is a woman (the media likes to say older women voted for Hillary just because she is a woman) but I voted for her because she is the most experienced, most intelligent, most caring about what has happened to this country, most compassionate about our troops suffering and is by far the strongest candidate to ever run for president. Nancy Pelosky is a woman and I would bet the majority of women that supported Hillary would never support this useless woman.
The only way to show my disapproval of the DNC and their corrupt gang of thugs is to vote for McCain. I know there are many good Democratic Senators and Congress members but where were they when Hillary was being crucified by the media and DNC? My US Representative stood up and endorsed the person that his constituents overwhelmingly voted for and that was Hillary. He refused to jump on the Obama band wagon and he will be the only Democrat I will vote for in November.

    FYI

We already know that Jihadist Obama HUSSEIN is not QUALIFIED to be the President, we now know that he is not ELIGIBLE to be President under American law. This is a great comment to a post over at Michelle Malkin’s blog:
    On June 10th, 2008 at 8:37 am, legendx3 said:

Barack Obama is not legally a U.S. Natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth, which falls between “December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986? . Presidential office requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. Citizen parents, which of course is what exempts John McCain though he was born in the Panama Canal. US Law very clearly stipulates: “…If only one parent was a U.S. Citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.” Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. Citizen and Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years, (or citizen perhaps because of Hawai’i being a territory) the mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years **prior to** Barack Obama’s birth, but *after* age 16. It doesn’t matter *after* . In essence, she was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. Citizenship. At most, there were only 2 years elapsed since his mother turned 16 at the time of Barack Obama’s birth when she was 18 in Hawai’i. His mother would have needed to have been 16+5= 21 years old, at the time of Barack Obama’s birth for him to have been a natural-born citizen. As aformentioned, she was a young college student at the time and was not. Barack Obama was already 3 years old at that time his mother would have needed to have waited to have him as the only U.S. Cizen parent. Obama instead should have been naturalized, but even then, that would still disqualify him from holding the office.

*** Naturalized citizens are ineligible to hold the office of President. *** Though Barack Obama was sent back to Hawaii at age 10, all the other info does not matter because his mother is the one who needed to have been a U.S. Citzen for 10 years prior to his birth on August 4, 1961, with 5 of those years being after age 16. Further, Obama may have had to have remained in the country for some time to protect any citizenship he would have had, rather than living in Indonesia. Now you can see why Obama’s aides stopped his speech about how we technically have more than 50 states, because it would have led to this discovery. This is very clear cut and a blaring violation of U.S. Election law. I think the Gov. Of California would be very insterested in knowing this if Obama were elected President without being a natural-born U.S. Citizen, and it would set precedence. Stay tuned to your TV sets because I suspect some of this information will be leaking through over the next several days…

DAWG! This guy really is about flaunting his illegal behavior in all of our faces, isn’t he?

    on June 17th, 2008 at 11:23 am

justiz guy I hear ya… you are looking for a reasoned debate, looking to make the world a better place, and define a positive course of action going forward.
You might even think that a large group of people saying the election was stolen, that voter fraud was the reason they can’t forgive the DNC, might make a list of points, so somebody could understand what their beef exactly is, instead of just chalking it up to sour grapes, which is what a rational person would have to do, not being provided with the slightest scrap of organized evidence.

An essentially no-term US Senator against an essentially one-term US Senator with nearly the same views deserves this much of a flap?

Just in case I am being too subtle, make a case. Otherwise everyone who is rational will assume you are sore losers.
I like the ladies of this site, and I would like to assume better, and I am (relatively) open-minded, and would want to help make sure that elections are fair, but how would I ever make that decision based on the lack of information you are giving?

  131. justzisguy said,

    on June 22nd, 2008 at 3:40 pm

alg()rhythm - you won’t get reasoned debate except from the people who are the registered writers for this site, like piper, manalo, sista etc … the rest are just chanting the same thing over and over again.

then you get a supporter that tries to say he’s not a natural born us citizen - which is in fact untrue.

that’s a lie spread to smear him, like the other comments I have read here saying they don’t care what church he goes to, they think he’s a muslim at heart.

so what? since when is _any_ candidate’s religious choice a viable thing to discuss regarding their suitability for elected office?

didn’t anyone read that part of the constitution that said “no religious test”?

this is the same thing that disgusted me when the right was tromping on romney (whatever other things made him unsuited to be president) over whether mormons are christians, or christian enough, to be president.

what does it matter, and why is the debate framed that way?
what, if you’re not a christian, you’re not good enough to be president?

like I said, rove is laughing all the way to the ballot box over the fracturing of the democratic party, and if you think obama is paying 400 of his supporters to write pro-obama comments here, how many do you think the boy genius (rove) is paying to make pro-obama posts here, knowing that’ll will just to push more hillary supporters to mccain?

  132. justzisguy said,

    on June 23rd, 2008 at 3:06 pm

Minx, regarding the citizenship thing: that lie keeps getting spread further and further on the net, and, like the guys in the 1930’s said, if a lie keeps being repeated, it will be believed.

BHO’s mom was a natural born citizen, so the commentary “Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. Citizen for 10 years” is incorrect - she was born in Kansas.

And BHO was born in Hawaii, which gives him citizenship jus soli (born on us territory).
Even if Hawaii were not a state, it was considered a territory, legally, for the purposes of citizenship jus soli, since 1900.

as to the question, “what do I want?” I want hillary as president; she earned it. second to that, I want hillary as vice president and health care czar. she must be given the full range of powers and influence in her job; the entire nation and especially BO must view her VP role in a completely blue-sky fashion and make it unlike anything we’ve ever seen. IF bo would drop the big fat ego trip and let her do her thing, it’s possible this country will pull itself out of the gutter.
If he chooses to do it any other way, he will fail. HE NEEDS HER. Hillary’s power is greater than his, in the final analysis, and he would be wise to include her (and bill) in every plan for the cabinet, policies, etc. There is NO reason why these kids can’t play together nicely in the same sandbox — they (especially he) should buck up and do it for the country, BO’s ego be damned.
