auchi! sista’s review of sex & the city

Fashionastas on both sides of the pond are teetering on the edges of their Manolos in anticipation of “Sex and the City”— the movie. The world premier of the film took place last night (May 12, 2008) in London. Not to worry, this fashion-savvy chic had her webcam well poised to view and report on the couturier spectacle that dazzled the Leicester Square red carpet.

The fabulously fashionable four showed up for the pre-premier soirée donning creations that certainly turned heads. My head was shaking however… WHAT were these gals thinking?!? Was there a mirror in the presidential suite? Or perhaps freely furnished couturier was just too good to pass up? After all some say, “We are in a recession…” sistachristian_byline

Sarah Jessica Parker’s lush green Alexander McQueen strapless would have doubled beautifully as a delectable a fruit salad… especially when served up with its pièce de résistance — rosette and feathered Philip Treacy hat topper.

Kim Cattrall’s taffeta Vivian Westwood was vivid in red, but dumpy. Cynthia Nixon was sleek and chic in full-length black Calvin Klein—although, “TMI,” says I, with a décolletage view that left way too much hanging. Kristen Davis wore a vintage fuchsia frock that would have done us all a favor if it had been left in grandmother’s attic! The shoes DULL, Dull, dull (Parker’s two-tone Alexander M’s get an honorable mention)… AND as for the bling— lack-luster to non-existent…

Don’t fret my sassy “Sex and the City fans.” That was merely the London premier. There is plenty of time for the gals to get it together with their fashion consultants by May 30th, when the film opens on this side of the Atlantic.
And rumor has it that the movie itself features a bevy of fashion delights from such notables as Balenciaga, Vivienne Westwood, Christian Lacroix, Oscar de la Renta and Karl Lagerfeld. According to famed costume designer Pat Field there are at least 80 costumes for Parker’s character Carrie alone, and a trove of jewelry treasures that cost millions.

See you @ the movies in D.C.!!

You now can watch the movie (if you’ve not seen it; or wish to view it again) online for free. No this isn’t an infomercial. Here’s the link for it - http://www.movielab.tv and type sex and the city movie in the top right (search engine box) and waaaaaaala! I loved it!
